Teaching procedures:Step1. Lead-in 1. Watch a video about a panda. Then ask ss “Do you like pandas?”T: I like pandas. Because theyre cute. Today lets learn Unit 5 .2. T: Its a fine day. Do you want to go to the zoo? OK, lets go to Taiyuan zoo. Its really big . There are many kinds of animals in it . Now Ill introduce them to you. Step 2. Presentation1. Show some pictures of animals ,and teach the new words. Ss read the words several times.2. Play a guessing game.Tell ss some features about animals, and ask them to guess what animals they are .3. Ask ss to say out more animals they know.4. Look at the pictures and finish 1a. Then check their answers.5. Ask some ss: Do you like? Why do you like them? What animals do you like ? Why?Step 3. Listening1. The first time , check the answers you hear in 1a.2. The second time, fill in the blanks with description words.3. The third time, read the conversations following the tape and check their answers.Step 4. Pairwork 1. Show pictures and practice the conversations.2. Ss make conversations in pairs , then ask some pairs to present their conversations.Step 5. Groupwork1. Work in groups of four. Get the ss to make a survey about what animals they like , and fill in the chart.2. Then ask some groups to report their results .3. Ask :How many ss like pandas /lions /? and decide what animals we will see first.Step 6. ExercisesStep 7.
