Unit 10By the time I got outside, the bus had already left.Good afternoon, honorable judges and dear teachers and my friends, Im very glad to stand here and share my teaching ideas with you. Today my teaching topic is unit 10 by the time I got outside, the bus had already left, section a Grade 9. In my class, I divide my teaching plan into 6 parts, they are teaching material, students analysis, teaching methods and leaning strategies, teaching aids, teaching procedure and blackboard design. Now I will introduce my teaching plan one by one, please follow me into the first part, teaching material, I analyzed teaching material into 3 aspects, they are status and function; teaching objectives; teaching key points and difficulty.First is status and function. Go for It is a series of textbooks compiled for junior middle school students. The central idea of it is to challenge students to gain communicative competence in the study of the culture of this language. Each unit is divided into two parts, they are section a and section b. Section As aim is to make students master the basic language content, well, section B is the expansion and integrated use of knowledge. The next part-Teaching objectives. I divide the objectives into knowledge objectives, ability objectives and moral objectives. First, knowledge objectives. In this unit, students should try their best to master some new words, useful expressions and the key structure.Second, ability objectives. In the language learning process, these four skills are inseparable and mutual interactive; they all contribute to developing students language skills meanwhile focus will be laid on improving students communicative ability and their integrating skills.Next-moral objectives. The new curriculum standard requires teachers to pay more attention to the moral development of students. In this unit, through talking about the past events, make students realize how important to be punctual, and help them strengthen the consciousness of doing things regularly.Lets move on to the next part: Teaching key points and difficulty. The key point of this unit is to enable students to master the new words, expressions and some important sentences. As for the difficulty, Ill encourage students to use vocabulary and sentences to describe the past events, and most importantly, master the key structure “had done”.As we all know, students is the center of teaching activity, they play an important role in teaching procedure. So next is students analysis. Most of the junior middle school students are aged from 13 to 15. They are curious, creative and critical with strong abilities of memorizing, imitating and performing. So Ill provide them with real contexts, various tasks and challenging activities. The purpose is to motivate students learning enthusiasm and cooperative spirit.As far as Teaching methods and learning strategies are concerned, in this unit, Ill use task-based teaching method; various tasks will be designed for the students to master appropriate functional patterns. Besides, I will use audio-visual and situational teaching method to raise students interests as well as present context vividly. For students, I will guide them to master the learning strategies gradually; prediction, cooperation, and comparison will be encouraged in my class. Now lets talk about teaching aids. In this unit, I will make use of multimedia to assist my class. For example, I will use some recordings, pictures, videos, objects and charts. This will help to create the language situation and enhance the communication between the teacher and students. Now lets come to the most important part of my teaching plan-Teaching procedure. It is made up of 5 parts. They are preparation, presentation, practice, production and homework. Well, during these parts, students comprehensive abilities are expected to be improved step by step.First: Preparation.At the beginning of the class, Ill ask students some questions like this: “Have you ever been late for school? Did you have any trouble in the morning? Well, lets see what happened to this boy in the morning.” Then, I will play two pieces of video in order to let the students have a discussion on the topic. This is the first one. And then I will ask them: “do you know what happened to this boy? Try to describe this picture”, “the teacher started teaching” and “the boy walked into the class”, then Ill tell them: “the teacher started teaching” happened before “the boy walked into the class” so we can use a new sentence to combine them, that is “by the time he walked into class, the teacher had already started teaching”. And then, Ill tell them: “Do you think this boy will be on time next morning? Lets see the end of this story.” Here I use audio-visual teaching method to introduce the key structure of this unit; meanwhile it can arouse students interests to the new content of this class.Then, step two, Presentation. With a lively warming up, in this step, I will ask students: what do you usually do in the morning before school? And do you like morning? Why or why not? During their talk, I will show them some pictures about ones morning. Then, I will ask some students to describe what they usually do in the morning. After that, Ill tell them: for some students, in the morning they often brush their teeth, wash face or do some sports first, then theyll have breakfast, and then they will go to school and attend their classes. And then, Ill introduce the key structure to the students, Ill ask them: how can we use “by the time” and “had done” to describe these two pictures? That is “by the time I had my breakfast, I had brushed my teeth.” How about these two pictures? That is “by the time I went to school, I had had my breakfast.” In this way, I can let students know how to express the action that completed in the past. After that, students will do an activity like this: Ill invite some students to do a racing game. When the pictures come out, they have to make a sentence as soon as possible by using the new structure. For example, when the picture comes out, they can say “by the time I had my breakfast, I had brushed my teeth.” By using such an interesting activity, I can not only help students master the new knowledge, but also train their competitive spirits. In this step, I use situational and audiovisual teaching methods to make my students master the new words and introduce the key structure.Next is step 3, Practice. After presentation, students will have a general understanding of the new knowledge; next, Ill let them practice their comprehensive abilities gradually, so they will be more familiar with new words and sentences, also their language skills will be improved step by step. First is listening practice. Ill use Tinas story to let students practice their listening ability. Therere two items. Item A: Tina had a bad morning yesterday. Listen and find out what happened to her. After their listening, Ill ask some students to retell the story in their own words. Ill give them some clues. “First, she overslept; then, someone was taking a shower; third, the bus left; then, she had to run to school quickly; at last, she left her backpack at home.” By letting them retell the story in their own words, I can see whether they have mastered the new knowledge or not. Also, it can practice students language organization ability. After their retelling, Ill use a game to consolidate their learning of the key structure. The games called magic cards. Ill invite some students to come to the front of the classroom, and then let them choose one card from these cards, and then they must follow the cards and make a sentence. For example, if someone chooses no.3, so he or she must make a sentence by using “had done”, they can say: by the time she got outside, the bus had already left. In this way, I can help students consolidate the new knowledge; meanwhile, it will arouse students interests and help them to be more confident.Then, item B: Listen to Tina continue her story and number the pictures one to four in the correct order. Here I use audio-visual teaching method to help students form good listening habit and practice their listening ability.After the listening practice, its time to let students talk. So next is speaking practice. Ill let students work in groups and take turns being Tina. Ill set a situation for them in which they can tell their friends about their bad morning. Theyll have one student to be Tina, one student to be Tinas friends, another student to be the teacher. Then Ill ask some students to act their conversations out in different roles. Here I use situational teaching method to practice students pronunciation and improve their speaking abilities.In the practice step, Ill use task-based teaching method; audio-visual teaching method and situational teaching method to help students practice their comprehensive abilities. Next is step 4, Production.In this step Ill design a task named super interview, so students will be divided into 4 groups, each group will choose one student to be the reporter, and he or she must do a research about what their group members have done in summer holiday by the time the new term began. Then they will make a report to the class like this, at last we will decide who the best is. The winner will get a professional reporter card as a reward. Finally, Ill end my class like this: ok class! Have you imagined we Chinese can walk in the space? Yangliwei, one of Chinese astronauts has done it. And also the most exciting thing in 2011 is that shenzhou 8 kissed tiangong 1successfully in the space. I believe these successes wont be achieved if there is any delay, so begin with little things and do it regularly, nothing is impossible, I believe you can be the excellent one in the future.In this step, through using the task-based and situational teaching method, students speaking and cooperation abilities can be improved. Meanwhile, by guiding them to strengthen the consciousness of doing things regularly, moral objective can be achieved.Last but not least, step 5 Homework.Homework plays an imp
