Unit 12 What did you do last weekend? Section A (1a-1c) 教学设计 灵武回中 周俊燕I, Analyzing teaching material The language goal of this unit is talking about past events( What did sb. do ? ). So students must remember some past forms of verbs. So this unit is very interesting. This is the first period of the whole unit. Students would be interested in it. II, Analysis of the students On the basis of unit11, students learned some useful past forms of verbs ( regular and irregular forms. ) Although students of grade 7 have learned certain amount of English words and sentence structures, they may feel difficult in learning new structures. At the same time, they are curious about new things. They are afraid in speaking English out and making mistakes in learning English. So in this part, students should be given more chance to practice their pronunciation, courage and speaking listening skills. It is important for students to read aloud in class. I should encourage students to speak in class. Of course, checking is the key in time. III. Teaching aims According to the teaching material and the fact of students, my teaching aims are following like these: 1. Knowledge and Ability Objects:In this period, students should grasp four skills of words and expressions: the spelling、pronunciation of the new words and the new sentence structures. 2. Process and Strategy Objects: After this period, students can use the new words and new sentence structures to talk about recent past events. 3. Emotional Objects: To help students establish the cooperative learning perspective. Students can tell the story of a wonderful weekend, set up the students to enjoy life, enjoy the beautiful nature of emotion IV. Teaching important points 1) Key vocabulary and phrases: camp, lake, beach, badminton 2) Talk about past events: What did sb. do? V. Teaching difficult points 1) Talk about past events 2) Practice students listening, speaking, reading and writing skills. VI. Teaching aids multi-media computer, PPT, a tape recorder The teaching syllabus says that its necessary for teachers to use modern teaching facilities. Its of great help to increase the class density and improve our teaching result. It can also make the Ss reach a better understanding of the text by making the classes lively and interesting. At the same time, it arouses the Ss interest in learning English. VII. Teaching and study methods As we all know: the main instructional aims of learning English in the Middle School is to cultivate students abilities of listening, speaking, reading, writing and their good sense of the English language. So in this lesson Ill mainly use “Communicative” teaching method, “Audio-visual” teaching method and “Task-based” teaching method. That is to say, Ill let the Ss to get a better understanding of the key structure of the dialogue. Ill give the Ss some tasks and arrange five kinds of activities: talking, guessing games, watching CAI, acting out Section A and having a competition. STUDYING WAYS 1. Teach the Ss how to be successful language learners. 2. Let the Ss pass ObservationImitationPractice to study language. 3. Teach the Ss how to master dialogues and how to communicate with others. VIII. Teaching procedures Step 1 Organization Greet the whole class as usual: How was your? How was his her? (By using different person.)Step2 Lead in Start the class by an English song in this period. Let students can quickly focus their attention on the topic. Then ask and answer questions about “What do you do on weekend?” (Intention: students can be interested in this class.) Step 3 New words Learn new words in this period. Use computer to make flash-cards in order to let them keep the new words and the phrases. (Intention: students can review the words they have learnt before and I can introduce the new words naturally by showing the photos) Read after the teacher and then read by themselves. Ill give chance to the middle students.Step 4 Present the Past Simple Tense Present the Past Simple Tense, then let students find out the difference between the irregular verbs and the regular verbs. (Intention: students can review the Past Simple Tense they have learnt before and they can also learn the new words naturally by this period) Step 5 Guessing game Show each half a picture, ask students to guess what the people did in the picture. (Intention: students can practice the new words and sentences.) Step6. Presentation Help the students to summarize the key phrases and sentences. 1. Students are asked to do the activity 1a and 1b in page67 .Then, I will check the answers with them. For 1a, after completing it, students will be asked to repeat each phrase. 2. And for 1b, Students are asked to do some exercise in order to practice their listening skills. (Intention: students can gain new knowledge in this step) Step7 Working After doing those in page67, students have known the new things a little, then introduce new language structures to them. First, I will practice the example dialogue with a student. Then students are asked to practice with their partners. At last, they can make a survey to tell about what they did last weekend. (Intention: in this step, students get drills of the words and sentence structures. Asking them to show their dialogue before class can cultivate their courage. They want to learn and speak English, but most time they are shy and diffident, for fear that they will make mistake, so it is a good chance for them to practice. ) Step 8 Do some exercise Give students some exercise to do to practice what they learned this class. (Intention: Allow students to practice what they have learned in time, improve the listening, speaking, reading and writing of a comprehensive language skills.) Step9 Summary Ask students to summarize what we learnt in this class, including words, sentence structures. Step10 Homework I think homework is so important that the Ss should speak English as much as they can in class or after class. It is necessary for the Ss to do some extensive exercises after class to consolidate the knowledge they learned. Step11 Summary commendation Find out which group is the best. Congratulations to them, praise the students to improve their study interest. X. Teaching reflection This class mainly focuses on the Past Simple Tense. At the beginning of the class, I use an English song to arouse the
