The whole unit is divided into five hours. This class is the third hour of this unit. It is a reading course. The content is different between Chinese and Western birthday food, and it involves the differences between Chinese and Western cultures.In order to achieve the objectives of this lesson, the teacher in addition to the use of textbook reading materials (P59, 2b) with reading skills training and analysis, summary information, also added a class associated with the topic of extended reading, vocabulary and reading ability according to the students extracurricular training of materials.Curriculum standard: English new curriculum standard requirement of junior students can reach grade three, students are required to read a simple story and the passage and catch the main idea, the lesson of the topic is English new curriculum standard junior high school topic in the customs. According to the topic, the requirement for students is to read simple stories and short passages and grasp the main idea, and to simply describe a thing with the hints given. II. Teaching objectives: 【教学目标】Knowledge objectives:1.Master the new words and expressions about birthday food.2. Students will be able to use simple English to talk about birthday food around the world.Language skill objectives:1. Learning situation analysis【学情分析】The grade seven students in daily English learning pure English environment is not sufficient, so in the oral expression, students are accustomed to using words or phrases to answer questions, sentence output and output capacity of the paragraphs of this viewpoint is to be further improved. This requires teachers to maximize the creation of English language environment, scientific and timely encouragement to help students build confidence in learning English.IV. Lead the students to read the passage quickly and find out the first/last sentence,then match the main ideas of each part.Task 2 Scanning (Careful-reading) 1.Read 2&3 carefully and fill in the chart about the food ,the things they can do and the special meaning in many countries ,the UK and China.2.Read the whole passage and then judge T or F of the sentences. Task 3 Extra reading1. Ask the students to do the extra reading about the birthday food in other countries.2.Work in pairs to read and match the food/custom with the country.Step 3 Post-readingTask 4 Group work1.Ask 6&8 students in a group to make a poster about different birthday foods around the world from reading.2.Then come to the front to make a report like this: People around the world have their birthdays in different ways.
