So it is easy for students to improve their interest in learning.Analysis of the studentsStudents in Grade 5 have learned English for nearly three years.They already have a certain amount of words and sentence patterns.They have a great curiosity for new knowledge.They like having fun by performing, talking and singing.Teaching Aims (1)Understand and say the new phrases: go on a picnic, go swimming,pick apples and make a snowman.(2)Use the sentence patterns in daily life:Which season do you like best?I like spring/summer/autumn/winter best.Why?Because .(3)To arouse the students interest in learning English.(4)To cultivate the students consciousness of teamwork and friendship.Teaching Key Points(1)To grasp the four phrases.(2)To ask and answer questions about seasons.Teaching Difficult Points(1)To pronunce the new phrases correctly.(2)Master the sentence patterns:Which season do you like best?I like spring/summer/autumn/winter best.Why?Because .Teaching MethodsAudio-visual approach;Total physical response.Teaching AidsMulti-media; Cards.Teaching ProceduresStep 1.Warm-up(1)Greeting.Greet students with “Good morning”,“How are you”,“Whats the weather today like?”and so on.Purpose:Through the daily dialogue,close the distance between teachers and students.(2)Sing a song.Play the tape,sing the song “Seasons song”Purpose:Through singing to relax the students and arouse their interest in learning English.Step 2.Presentaion and Practice(1) Lead inThe teacher asks students questions:Whats your favourite colour?Whats your favourite fruit?Whats your favourite weather?(2)Introduce the newphrasesDiscuss 1:What can you do in spring?Discuss 2:What can you do in summer?Discuss 3:What can you do in autumn?Discuss 4:What can you do in winter?Lets do.The teacher says the phrases,the students do actions. (2)Lets survey.Ask students“Which season do you like?” (3)Pair workLet students practice the dialogs with their partners.
