Learn to use the important sentences: (1) .The number of candles is the persons age. (2) .If he or she blows out all the candles in one go, the wish will come true. (3).The long noodles are a symbol of long life. 2. Ability Aims: A. Talk about birthday food and know the culture of birthday food in different countries. B. Train the students ability of working in groups. 3. Moral Aims: A. Improve the students interest of learning English. B. Know about food culture and birthday culture around the world. II. Teaching important and difficult points: 1. Have students master the new words and language points. 2. Know about food culture and birthday culture around the world. 3. Improve students reading skills and interest of learning English. III. Teaching Steps: Step1. Greetings and Leading- in 1. Greet the class as usual. 2. Watch a video of Daniels birthday party. Step2. Pre-reading 1.Ask students to answer the following questions . (1).What did you see at his birthday party? (2). What did Daniel do at his birthday party ? (3) .What do you do on your birthday? (4). What do you eat on your birthday? (5). Do you have a good time? 2. Show pictures of new words and learn the new words.3. Show pictures of other countries birthday food and tell students what they do on their birthday. Step3. While-reading 1. Skimming(略读)1). Read the passage quickly and then complete the chart in 2b. 2). Check the answers in the chart. (ppt.14) 2. Careful-reading (精读)1).Repeat sentence by sentence. Read the article and check language points on Learn Notes. Then answer the questions in 2c.2).Fill in the blanks on the paper to complete the passage.3). Ask some students to read the article.Step4. After-reading 1. According to the passage to write “T” and “F”. (ppt.19-20) (1). _ The number of candles on the birthday cake is the persons age.
