Students can find the information about different characters.三、Teaching difficult points1. Students can understand the differences among different places.2. Help students know and analyze the whole TV report.3. Retell the story and let students use the target phrases in the daily life.四、Teaching aidsComputer and blackboard五、Teaching proceduresStep1 Greeting and warming upT gives some of the statements to introduce himself /herself. Then ask students whether they are the same. If they are the same as the T, just stand up. I love my school. I am not a man. I am from China. I can sing. I like pandas very much. I like English. I usually ride the bike to school. I dont have a watch.(Design purpose: It is the first time that students and T dont know each other well. T can make friends with students in a short time. Meanwhile, students can also take an interest in this class.)Step 2 Presentation (2a)T: I dont have a watch. So can you tell me what time it is now?Ask students the time in Beijing and then show the world map. Point to the four main cities in the world and let students discover the differences. Conclude that “Time is different in different places.” (Design purpose: Thats in order to help students know the time zone and get ready for the following reading task.)Step 3 Reading (2b)T: I have a friend. His name is Zhu Hui. 1. Show the picture of Zhu Hui and listen to the tape and finish the ID card.NameZhu HuiJobFromNow liveFor2. While finishing the chart, ask students the relevant information and teach the new words, including a picture of host family.3. Fast readingLet students read the whole TV report quickly and give the title to each paragraph. While doing this task, T could remind students to find the key words.4. Careful reading(1) Read the first paragraph and answer the questions.Question 1 Whats the time in Shenzhen? Question 2 What are Zhu Huis family doing? Question 3 Why are they watching boat races and making zongzi? T could also add something about Dragon Boat Festival.(2) Read the second paragraph. Judge the statements and correct them.(3) After aforementioned tasks, ask students to think “which home does Zhu Hui like better, China or his host family?” Thats in order to explain the last sentence “No place like home”. Let students choose the right choice.(Design purpose: Analyze the report step by step to help students understand the content. Teach students to use the reading methods to solve the reading problems.)Step 4 Post-reading1. 2C. Let students match the column A with column B.2. Then ask students “who is living with an American family?” Review the present progressive tense.3. Compare two families and complete charts.
