A runs faster than B.Teaching difficulties:1. Teach Ss some difficult words about comparatives, such as big-bigger heavy-heavier outgoing-more outgoing.2. Use of comparativesStep 1: Lead-in1. Greetings2. Look at the picture, ask Ss “what can you see? What do they look like? Are they different or the same?” Then Present the words and phrases such as twins, both.and.Step 2 Presentation1. Tell Ss the twins are the same, but most people are different. Ask Ss to look at the picture of Carl and Peter. What do they look like?2. Present some pairs of opposite words:tall-short thin-heavy/fat3. Ask Ss: Who is taller/shorter/thinner/heavier/fatter?4. Let Ss look at the picture of Tina and Lilac. Present some opposite words:long hair-short hair big eyes-small eyes5. Ask Ss what are they like? Present words loud, quiet, loudly, quietly, outgoing, better.6. Ask Ss who is louder/quieter/more quietly/more outgoing/better? Let Ss answer these questions one by one.Step 3. Practice1. Ask Ss to practice the new sentences: I am/She(He) is .than. I have / She(He) has.than. I/She(He) play(s)/speak(s)/sing(s).than2. Invite Ss to show their sentences by speaking them out quickly. One St one sentence.Step 4: Listening (1b)1. Ask Ss: What can you see in the picture? How many pairs of twins are there in the picture.2. Listen to the conversations and number the twins 1-3.3. Check the answers.4. Listen to the conversations again and answer the questions: Who plays drums better, Sam or Tom? Who sings more loudly, Tina or Tara? Who is heavier, Peter or Paul?5. Check the answers?6. Listen and imitate. Pay attention to the pronunciation and intonation.Step 5. Pair work1. Let Ss do pair work according to the PPT. They have 2mins to prepare.2. Ask Ss to show their dialogues and give evaluations.Step 6. Guessing game1. Guess “who is my friend ” in our class.2. Teacher shows the game first to Ss.Step 7. Conclusion1. You dont need a lot of friends as long as they are good
