The topic is the similarities and the differences. The function is comparing the people and telling the similarities and the differences. In this period students will read an article, they will have the chances to use the target language “The Comparative Degree of Adjectives” to compare persons and things.二、教学目标1. Students will be able to master the key words and expressions, such as: as,way, in common, be good at, physics, however, both, more than, hers and so on. 2. Students will be able to use the useful structures, such as, “ in some ways we look the same, and in some ways we look different.” “ We both have black hair and black eyes.” “ Liu Ying is not good at sports as her sister.” “ She is more outgoing and I am quieter.”3. Students will be able to use comparatives of the adjectives to compare the personal traits and make the judgments.4. This content is close to the students life. It will arouse their special attention and encourage them to be interested in learning English and expressing themselves. So it is certain that the students will fall interested in this topic.三、教学过程Step 1:Warming up ( 3 minutes )Enjoy the English song “ American Ride” By Toby KeithWinter getting colder, summer getting warmerTidal wave coming cross the Mexican borderWhy buy a gallon, its cheaper by the barrel? .【 设计说明:节奏欢快的英语歌曲与本单元要求掌握的比较级联系紧密,迅速激活学生生活经历, 激发学生兴趣,为学生积极活跃参与课堂营造氛围。】Step 2:Revision (6 minutes)1.Play a game: eg:A-outgoing, B-more outgoing, C-Im more outing than she/her. The first student says an adjective he knows, the second student says the Comparative Degree of this adjective” , and the third one says one sentence with the phrase.【 设计说明:生动直观的脱口秀游戏既复习了前两课时的形容词比较级,又对学生实际语言运用能力进行了培养,还对接下来要学习的3a短文做了铺垫过渡。】2. Compare some pictures with the given words: Eg: tall-taller, short-shorter, big-bigger, serious-more serious .Then encourage the students to use “The Comparative Degree of Adjectives” to compare persons around them. 【 设计说明:栩栩如生的幻灯片放映演示不仅调动学生积极性、拓展学生视野、使学生充满自豪感,而且使语言学习的过程成为学生形成积极的情感态度、发展思维能力的过程。同时,引导学生立即把语言现象应用到具体环境中激发了学生口头表达的欲望。】Step 3: Lead-inand Pre-reading ( 12 minutes )1. PresentationWe can get ready a picture of twin sisters/brothers to present the new words and phrases: twins, in some ways, in common, look the same, both, as/as, however, look different, be good at.【 设计说明:师生之间对一幅双胞胎照片的自由谈论,自然地引入本课时话题。教师在自由交谈的过程中引入课文中的单词、词组,同时结合照片,组织学生学习运用,为下面的听说活动扫清障碍。】2.Explaination and usingWe can encourage the students to use these phrases above to describe the twinsthey know, other boys or girls or their classmates or friends. And try to ask them to use the new words and phrases.【设计说明:本环节通过让学生将他们刚学到的词汇应用在生活中,吸引学生积极参与课堂活动,并可检验学生新知掌握程度,为下面的阅读练习搭建较好的支架。】 Step 4: While Reading ( 17 minutes )1.Read the article in 3a and listen to the tape.【设计说明:该教学步骤边读边听的训练旨在让学生把握短文大意,善于捕捉关键词句,排除冗余信息。既掌握一些朗读技巧,提高听力水平,又促进对语言的整体感悟力,达到了听读的有机结合。】2. Ask the students to read 3a as carefully as possible and judge the statements true or false or for dont know. 【设计说明:这种二次细读并让学生完成具体任务的方法能让学生思维高度集中,捕捉短文细节,同时有效提高识记能力和理解能力。】3.
