Knowledge ObjectsStudents are able to master the key vocabulary and the target language .Key vocabulary: square, meter, deep, desert, Qomolangma, the Nile, the Caspian, the Sahara Target language: -Whats the highest mountain in the world? -Qomolangma. -How high is Qomolangma? -Its 8,844.43 meters high.Its higher than any other mountain.2. Ability objects Students are able to listen for the key words. Students are able to talk about geography and nature by using the key vocabulary,numbers and the target language.2. Moral ObjectsStudents are able to know more about geography and nature and broaden their horizons.Teaching Key PointStudents are able to communicate with each other by using the key vocabulary and the target language.Teaching Difficult Points Students are able to listen for the key words and understand the listening.Students are able to master the the comparatives and superlatives and how to read large numbers to help with their listening and speaking.Teaching MethodsCommunicative methodListening and Speaking method.Teaching Aid A projector. Teaching Procedures Step 1. Warming-up Teacher says “How to say these numbers?”to lead students to be familiar with the pronunciations of numbers.According to these pictures,they can master them . Step 2.Presentation Get students to read numbers after the teacher and help them to understand. Get students to learn some new vocabulary and introduce some information about the four places. Get students to match the facts they know in 1a.Draw a short conclusion about the expressions of the width、length and the depth etc. Step 3.Practice 1.Get students to have an eyesight game about comparative and the superlative . Get students to exercise and consolidate them. 2. Get the students to listen and complete the sentences. Listen again and repeat after the tape. Ask students some questions to check answers.Step 4.Consolidation 1. Read through the dialogue in Activity 1c and talk about what the worlds tops are, 2. Practice the conversations with the partners. A: Whats the longest river in the world? B: The Nile. Ask students to work in pairs and praise the good job they did.Step 5 Production Ask the Ss. to introduce the worlds tops in statements. Students introduce the worlds tops like this: The Nile is the longest river in the world.Step6. Summary. Tell students that in this class, we have done some speaking, and listening practice about geography and nature. It is important to protect the environment. Step7.
