Teaching Aims By the end of the lesson, students should be able to: 1. read a passage independently and improve their reading skills; 2. realize the importance of sharing housework, and try to help with some of the chores at home. Teaching Key Points 1. Key words and expressions: be angry with, sit down, come over, all the time, help out around the house, all day, as.as., in surprise, as soon as, the minute 2. Key sentences: -The minute I sat down in front of the TV, my mom came over. -Im just as tired as you are. -For one week, she did not do any housework and neither did I. Teaching Difficult Points To improve the reading skills and develop the sense of English. Teaching Methods Reading. Teaching Aids Blackboard, chalks, tapes, PPT. Teaching Procedures Step 1. Warming up a. Greet the students as usual b. Have a brainstorm to review the phrases about chores c. Watch a short video and lead in Step 2. Talking Show the picture in 3a, talk and guess what happened Step 3. Listening Listen to the tape and find out the general idea of the passage without looking at the book Step 4. Fast reading a. Read the passage quickly and find the answers to the three questions -Did Nancy take the dog for a walk? -Why was Nancys mom angry with her? -Did they solve the problem? How? b. Check the answers Step 5. Careful reading a. Read the passage carefully and answer the following questions -What did Nancy do first when she got home? -What did her mother want her to do? -What did Nancy want to do? -What happened after a week? -What did Nancy finally understand? b. Look at the statements on the PPT, write “T”for true or “F” for false. If the statement is false, try to correct it. Step 6. Post reading Fill in the blanks according to the passage and read it together. Step 7. Show time Work in pairs and make up a conversation between Nancy and her mother. S
