Centre for English Language EducationAOP Presentation Outline.Title: The development of Japanese AIStageBrief Overview of the content of this part (incorporate some source use if possible).Introduction / overview1. Put a slide on the screen which shows group members and group number as well as date and ID numbers.2. Alternative opening: a short video from a film I, robot(less than 40 seconds)3. Explain the theme of this presentation: the introduction and history of AI, the advantages Japan owns on developing AI, introduce a typical robot: pepper and the future of AI4. Give a brief overview of the presentation, show the structure: 4 sub-themesSub-theme 1 Part 1: brief introduction of AI1. -What is AI? (Sloman, Aaron , 2007) AI is an abbreviation of artificial intelligence. The purpose to develop AI is making humans life more convenient. As John Mcdermott said: “To be useful, a system has to be able to do more than just correctly perform some task”. 2. History in Japan:-Focus on Japan: an amazing country with a long history of developing AI. (Michael Fitzpatrick October 30, 2013)-Achievement: (1)AIBO (2) ASIMO (3) Giminoid-F (4) PepperSub-theme 2The advantages Japan owns on developing AI: 1. It is easier for Japanese to accept artificial intelligent applied in every period of life, thus no barriers existing.Japan looks to a robot future (2008): Almost no Japanese reject the development of AI and even is happy to apply them in normal life. As a result, this helps scientists study further in AI at high speed.Japans rise of robot (2005): In some west countries, people view AI as a kind of weapon which has the ability to destroy human society, but in Japan, people consider it as a strong force which is able to improve their life standard.2. Japan has started producing a large number of robots in many factories. They have the technology and enough experience to put AI in use or improve it.Japan looks to a robot future (2008): Japan has been a factory of industrial robots. Large numbers of robots are produced per year and these robots have been put in use, working as an alternative to the labour.Sub-theme 3Part 3 : Introduction of Japanese AI robot Pepper1. Brief Introduction of Pepper Showing picture: This is an incredible friendly humanoid robot which is designed and implemented by a Japanese company SoftBank and French robotics companyAldebaran. People usually call it a emotional robot and her name is Pepper (Erico 2014). Setting question,”So, how does it work or it used for what?” That bring to my first part “The main functions and applications of Pepper”2.The main functions and applications of PepperAsking questions: If you ask Pepper,” Could you please explain some of your functions”, she will reply, “I dont want to show off, this might take over 100 hours (Erico 2014).” It is just a simple example which implies Pepper has the ability to react after being asked questions by users. But this is not the most surprising thing on Pepper. The core function of Pepper is to identify the emotions of people including joy, anger and surprise by analyzing (Aldebaran Co.Inc., 2014) So Pepper could be a good home companion or a sales robot to get to know the appetite of consumers and promote the products. Just think imaginatively.3. The structure of Pepper and designs that especially focuses on emotionAfter knowing the functions, what are supporting peppers work are designs and technologies.1) General structure: Weight, height, appearance (Erico 2014).2) Dynamic component : head, shoulders, elbows, wrists, fingers, hips, and knees (Erico 2014).3) Emotion design (Aldebaran Co.Inc., 2014). Two HD cameras (in the mouth and forehead), and a 3-D depth sensor (behind the eyes). Theres a gyroscope in the torso and touch sensors in the head and hands. The mobile base has two sonars, six lasers, three bumper sensors, and a gyro, and it can drive at up to 3 kilometers per hour. Conclusionl First, I will talk about the future of artificial intelligence briefly1. Use AlphaGo which is a major milestone in AI to bring about the discussion about the future of AI. Bight or bleak?2. AI in neural network system will have the ability to learn new concepts and give decisions on it own. Such system can be used in computer, robot program and intelligent machine in different areas: medical, space exploration, education and military use (International Journal of Scientific & Engineering Research, 2013).3. The final purpose of AI is to make machines be self-aware, thoughtful and intelligent as human beings (International Journal of Engineering and Advanced Technology, 2013). Conc
