1 PEP BOOK 6 Unit 5 Look at the monkeys Part A Let s learn Good morning everyone My name is Liu Ya I come from Yan Hulu Primary School in Huangshi I am very glad to be here and talking about Part A Let s learn of Unit 5 I will explain the lesson from the following aspects Firstly the analysis of teaching material This lesson is about present continuous tense of five words flying running walking jumping and swimming By study of this lesson the students know how to read these new words and can use the sentences What is it doing It s and The is in real situation Secondly it s about the students Our students of Grade five have learnt English for two years the boys and girls are active curious and interested in new things They enjoy participation and love performance being not afraid of making mistakes They also love singing games and activities and particularly care about the teacher s evaluation Thirdly the teaching aims Based on the teaching material the contents of this class and the present knowledge of the students I put forward the following teaching objectives 1 Aims to the knowledge a Enable the Ss to master four skills new words flying running walking jumping and swimming b Enable the Ss to understand and use the sentence pattern What is it doing It s The is And can use them in real situations 2 Aims to the ability a Develop the Ss abilities of listening speaking and using English in real situations b Foster the Ss ability of working in groups 3 Aims to the emotion Encourage the Ss do more physical exercise and show their love to sports 4 Teaching key point Let the Ss master the four skills new words and can use the sentence pattern in real situation 5 Teaching difficult point a How to read these five new words correctly and pay more attentions to ing b Let the Ss to know the present continuous tense Fourthly I will talk about teaching methods we all know the main instructional aims of learning English in primary school is to cultivate pupil s basic abilities of listening and speaking and their good sense of the English language So in this lesson I ll mainly use these methods 1 Interactive Teaching Method Warm up When I greet with the Ss before class I will ask them some questions naturally e g 2 What s your favorite season What can you do in The purpose of this is to review the learned knowledge for the next step Let the Ss guess the riddles about the seasons At the same time it forms a better English learning surrounding for the Ss 2 Situational Teaching Method Situation With the help of PPT I set a situation of the sports meeting of the animals I also set a situation of joining the sports meeting of our school The purpose of this is to arouse the Ss interest step by step of this lesson 3 Group Study Method Comparison After present all the new words I will let the Ss discuss in groups try to compare the new words on the blackboard to find the rules of present continuous tense Next Let s focus on the teaching procedures 1 Interest is the best teacher 1 Before class I will greet with the students and I also give some riddles for them to guess 2 I divide the class into 4 groups when they did good job I ll phrase them like this Purpose It can attract students attention and interest and make a relaxing atmosphere for students to concentrate on the English class 2 Happy to learn 1 Lead the Ss join the sports meeting of the animals to show the first player bird and the second player fish to the Ss enable the Ss can read and know the meaning of the new words and the sentences flying and swimming what is it doing The is It s I can use the different ways to practice the new words and let the Ss to read and act the new words 2 Then I ll show the third player elephant let the Ss try to ask what is it doing And help the Ss make a chant about the new word and sentence doing doing what is it doing walking walking the elephant is walking 3 At last show a short video of the sports meeting after that I ll ask what is the doing Ask the Ss find the answer from the video Purpose Through the situation and the video guide the Ss to learn the words jumping and running It leads the Ss into a story and then they can acquire the language unconsciously and can communicate with others freely 3 Change class to life happy to say In order to help the student recognize read and use the new words and sentences I will arrange 3 kinds of activities 3 Activity1 Make a new chant Purpose The chant can avoid the lifelessness and boredom from the pure machine drills It create the conditions of a relaxed and interesting atmosphere for children drills Activity 2 Talk about the famous players Activity 3 Group work Sports meeting of our school Purpose It provides a real situation and encourages the Ss to communicate with others They can say loudly and freely they will feel happy and successful during this part by way of communication the Ss will understanding the meaning of the structure better and master the knowledge firmly 4 Summary Let the Ss find the rules of Present Continuous Tense by themselves 5 Let s check Purpose 6 Homework Talk about the animals in the circus what is it doing It s
