college life will be ended soon When I was in campus I always feel time is too long and the college life is at leisure I often hold the opinion that I should work earlier and gain more social experience So from February18 to March 30 2011 I was fortunate to come to Shanxi Huitongda Chemicals Co Ltd to conduct an international trade internship learning a lot of knowledge outside the book benefited greatly This report will give a very brief overview of what I have done and learned during the internship period At the internship period I am working as an international trade intern of sales department where my professional English and the knowledge of international trade can be well used Indeed I benefit a lot in this internship with regard to translation skills and foreign correspondence writing skills the procedures of export trading and interpersonal and communication skills etc I hereby expresses my sincere and deep gratitude to the company who offers me great chance to test my capabilities to my sales manager who gives me high and trust complimentary and to my colleagues who have always been nice to me and assist me Besides during the period of internship I experienced the exciting mood when started to work the worrying of future life the tension from work and then the pressure of having no achievements These forced me to become more mature than before and came to learn some important principles of how to be a man The Purposes of Internship 1 To put what I have learned such as Business English English Writing Foreign Correspondence Translation International Trade Practice Office Software and other professional knowledge and skills into practice It helps me have a deeply understanding of the knowledge and let me know where I have not mastered well 2 To obtain more working experience to fit myself into the society and well prepare for my future career before I completely jump out of my campus and take the outside challenge 3 Strengthen my English and communication abilities Sending emails to foreign customers and having a communication with them on line can help me achieve this purpose Now I could deal with the enquiry or quotation skillfully 4 Working and cooperating with my colleagues can enhance my teamwork consciousness and develop my coordination and collaboration capabilities and also improve my consciousness of responsibility 5 The internship trains me the ability of analyzing and resolving problems also taught me how to withstand the pressure from work 实习报告 Mr Li Zhou also teaches us something about the procedures of foreign export and some other necessary skills The export trade procedures mainly includes enquiry quotation ordering terms of payments out factory preparation package declaration shipment bill of lading document presentation and payment It can be simply defined as order products payments transport and bill Comparing with inland trade it attaches more emphasis on documents such as invoice packaging list bill of lading and so on The sea bill of lading is not only the certificate of cargo ownership but also being equivalence to the payment which is determined by the specialty of international trade in terms of policy transportation currency and etc Certainly life would not to be smooth all the way without any trouble and melancholy It is more like it when my internship study is concerned Soon after I begin my work as an intern in the company problems came one after another As I am unfamiliar with any of the chemical products as well as my poor specific knowledge of chemical even a simple word can always beats me because I don t know the exact term or specifications So many of my spare time is spent in studying the specific chemical industry knowledge The Practice Phase The second week sees our practicing sending emails emails routed and viewed by Mr Li Zhou The first thing we should do is to learn how to manage to use the Dream Mail system and Look Chem the work platforms With the help of some colleagues I get a good handling of these systems Although we have already known some basic ideas in how to reply to quotation emails and how to send enquiry emails to foreign customers we still encounter many difficulties for example how to express the trade terms properly and how to identify the problems Sometimes we even can t understand the exact meaning and the intention of the foreign customers In a word this week we should adapt ourselves to the workflow of this job export trade The Real Emailing Phase In the following weeks we have access to the real emails from all over the world To be honest I am very excited because this is the real one Each email is so divine I now get the essence of the well known conception Customers are God the basic conception of the business lines I fear of making any mistakes despite that I still receive or ask for help for a long time from Mr Li Zhou Frustrated as I am I m happy I can learn more for knowledge is limitless However I recognize that I cannot always spend too much time on each email In the office there will be lots of mails in the staff member s mailbox every day Therefore we will use more than two third of working hours to deal with the mails Then sending out mails and receiving mails and answering them So efficiency is as important as accuracy with the accumulation of everyday learning I have classified the cases I encounter to the similar issue I met before and this is effective With daily practice for such a long period now I have got myself more familiar with the procedures of foreign export trade Foreign export trade involves different departments of commodities inspection quotation transportation insurance finance stations ports and customs as well as a variety of brokers and agents If any problems it will affect the whole transaction and may lead to legal disputes In addition in international trade the volume of transactions is usually relatively large and the chemical goods may be subjected to accidents during transporting and other external risks It is necessary for all kinds of insurance so as to avoid or reduce economic losses Also I have been reminded invisible and visible Sometimes invisible is more important than the other To my understanding invisible means one s attitude and personality someone has high spirits in respecting work and is hard to work Gains from the Internship 1 It is worthy to observe the importantance of ask question and pay more attention to accumulate experience at the beginning of our work As a fresh man it will take me a long time to get familiar with the work if I don t ask the colleagues or experienced one for question 2 Another lesson I have learned is that what we have learned in campus is really a solid foundation for our future work I come to realize that it is absolutely unacceptable for an international trade intern fail to find out the proper word or phrase to express himself A misunderstanding may even ruin a business order So it can not lay more emphasize on the details of how to write a good email So a man should better to make full use of his college time to learn much more in order to lay a basis for future It will be too later to say so when feel the need in your work It s difficult for me to find time to study many people would say However how many of them ever think if they have managed their time efficiently 3 My translation skills are lifted I can spare no effort to translate plenty of technical or trade terms about which I have not a little bit idea and play in our globalised world providing a common platform for international trade driving global collaboration and thinking breaking down the barriers between cultures and opening doors to opportunities around the world We should do our best to master it well 5 Overlook had a high frequency of occurrence To be honest everyone may even thought will overlook something Success or failure is all depending on the things that are significant or not Once we missed a point it may lead to a big loss or miss a chance Therefore I realize that I need to pay more attention to the details and take actions right now 6 It s an eye opener for me of the almost two month study What I have learned in the university has got the chance to put into practice and in turn it consolidated my learning I have had also a better understanding of myself my strong points as well as my weakness which make me aware of what should I do to make progress Office Culture Interpersonal Relationships Each company has its own office culture But it is difficult to judge whether it is good or not During these two months I was told that it needed harmonious and communication between colleagues Indeed a good communication helps to make an effective teamwork We all know that disagreements are inevitable So when we solve the question is not only to reach a consensus on an issue but to lessen the quarrels as
