The study was carried out by CITV to start their new childrens show Bookaboo, which is designed to encourage anyone to pick up a book and read with their children at any time of the day.Worryingly, the study showed that only three percent of fathers now find the time to read to the kids compared to 89 percent of mothers. Lucy Goodman, creator of Bookaboo, said,“Its important for young boys to be able to share a book with dads, granddads or male carers and it can be fun and rewarding, too.” Of the dads who said they didnt read to their kids, 87 percent blamed work while more than a third said they were too tired. While 89 percent of mums said they did read to their children, more than half of them said cleaning distracted (使分心) them and 49 percent were distracted by other household things. Researchers also found parents are now relying heavily on other people to lend a hand with reading to their children with grandparents doing the most, followed by sisters and brothers, aunts and uncles. While 95 percent of parents read to their children at some point, only five percent read to their children during the day. More than one in ten said they read every couple of weeks or less, and five percent could not remember the last time they shared a book. The study found parents also seem content with allowing their children to immerse (使沉浸) themselves in TV programs or playing computer games rather than reading. Exgoalkeeper David Seaman, who is a dad of two,has been a guest in Bookaboo. He says,“I think its important that fathers do read to their children because its a special time. Sometimes my two children will come to listen to the same bookits a magical moment and I advise fathers just to try it.”25We can know from the passage that Bookaboo_.Ais a daily show Bis an adults showCaims to encourage people to read to their children D. is a popular show 26According to the study, fathers dont read to their kids mainly because_.Athey are too busy with workBthey dont think it necessary to do soCthey are distracted by household thingsDthey like to play computer games in their free time27The study showed that_.Amost parents want to read to their childrenBhalf of Britains parents are too busy to read to their childrenCa far larger percentage of mothers read to children than fathersDmost parents dont allow children to watch TV or play computer games28According to the last paragraph,David Seaman_.Athinks it is great to read to children Bhas only one child Cis the creator of Bookaboo Dis a goalkeeper now CGiven that many peoples moods (情绪)are regulated by the chemical action of chocolate, it was probably only a matter of time before somebody made the chocolate shop similar to a drugstore of Chinese medicine. Looking like a setting from the film Charlie & the Chocolate Factory, Singapores Chocolate Research Facility (CRF) has over 100 varieties of chocolates. Its founder is Chris Lee who grew up at his parents corner store with one hand almost always in the jar of sweets. If the CRF seems to be a smart idea, thats because Lee is not merely a seasoned salesperson but also head of a marketing department that has business relations with big names such as Levis and Sony. That idea surely results in the imagination at work when it comes to making different flavored(味道)chocolates. The CRFs produce is green, made within the country and divided into 10 lines, with the Alcohol Series being the most popular. The Exotic Series - with Sichuan pepper, red bean (豆).cheese and other flavors - also does well and is fun to taste. And for chocolate snobs, who think that they have a better knowledge of chocolate than others, the Connoisseur Series uses cocoa beans from Togo, Cuba, Venezuela , and Ghana, among others.29. What is good about chocolate? A. It serves as a suitable gift. B. It works as an effective medicine. C. It helps improve the state of mind. D. It strengthens business relations.30. The words chocolate snobs in Paragraph 3 probably refer to people who A. are particular about chocolate B. know little about cocoa beans C. look down upon others D. like to try new flavors D Australia is the smallest continent in the world. It is a little smaller than China. It is on the Southern Hemisphere of the earth. Australia is big, but its population is small. The population of Australia is nearly as large as that of Shanghai. Enough laws have been made to fight against pollution. The cities in Australia have little air or water pollution. The sky is blue and the water is clean. You can clearly see fish in the rivers. Plants grow very well. Last month we visited Perth, the biggest city in Western Australia, and went to a wild flower exhibition. There we saw large numbers of wild flowers on show, most of which we had never seen before. We had a wonderful time. Perth is famous for its beautiful wild flowers. Every year in spring Perth has a wild flower exhibition. After visiting Perth, we spent a day in the countryside. We sat down and had a rest near a path at the foot of a hill. It was quiet and we enjoyed ourselves very much. When we heard bells ringing at the top of the hills, we looked up, but what we saw made us pick up all our things and run back to our car as quickly as we could. There were about three hundred sheep coming towards us along the path. Australia is famous for its sheep and kangaroos(袋鼠). So today I want to give you some wisdom about how to make the most of the time you spend in the kitchen. Here are three tips for great cooking on a tight schedule:1. Think ahead. The moments when I think cooking is a pain are when Im already hungry and there is nothing ready to eat. So think about of the coming week. When will you have time to cook? Do you have the right materials ready? 37 2. Make your time worth it. When you do find time to cook a meal, make the most of it and save yourself time later on. Are you making one loaf of bread? 38 It takes around the same amount of time to make more of something. So save yourself the effort for a future meal.3. 39 This may surprise you, but one of the best tools for making cooking worth your time is experimentation. It gives you the chance to hit upon new ideas and recipes that can work well with your appetite and schedule. The more you learn and the more you try, the more ability you have to take control of your food and your schedule. Hopefully that gives you a good start. 40 And dont let a busy schedule discourage you from making some great changes in the way you eat and live! A. Try new things. B. Ability is easily improved. C. Make three or four instead. D. Understand your food better. E. Cooking is a burden for many people. F. Let cooking and living simply be a joy rather than a burden. G.
