Fourth Engineer I think the following items must be complyed 1 Carry out work as ordered by the Second Engineer in accordance with the maintenance plan 2 Doing routine watches at sea and in port 3 Responsible for reasonable consumption and stock of spare parts 4 Supervision and maintenance of Auxiliary Engines Boiler plants starting air compressor and air dryer Fuel Oil and Lub Oil Purifiers bilge pump and bilge water separator incinerator Cargo and mooring equipment Cold and hot water systems and so on 5 Weekly running test and maintenance of Boiler safety valve Emergency air compressor Emergency fire pump life boat and rescue boat 6 Daily routine operation such as ballast or de ballast boiler soot blowling burning of garbage and waste by incinerator and oily bilge or sludge oil transferring 7 Responsibility for chemical locker taking sample and analysis water quality from boiler water system and main engine cooling water system proper chemical additives to be filled according to test result 8 Take part in bunkering operation weekly sounding of Fuel and Lub oil Tank 9 Weekly turning of all stand by machinery lubricate presently working pumps and engine as needed in accordance with lubricating chart 10 Irregularities or faults in daily work or operation to be reported to the Superior Engineer Assist the other engineers in performing various tasks according to Chief Engineer instruction I S M CODE What is I S M code and when this code be carried out I S M code is an international standard for the safe management of ships and for pollution prevention It s come from the SOLAS convention Chapter 9 I S M CODE enters into force on 1 July 1998 What is the objectives of establishing I S M Code or Why we need I S M code We establish I S M code for four reason firstly is to provide for safe practices in ship operation and a safe working environment secondly is to establish safeguards against all identified risks thirdly is to improve safety management skills of personnel including preparing for emergencies last one it protect maritime environment What is ISPS code and when this code be carried out ISPS code means International Ship and Port Facility Security code ISPS code enters into force on 1 July 2004 What is main factor for ISPS inspection check Vessel security level check ISSC International Ship Security Certificate check CSR Continuous Synopsis Record check the record related security incident check ship identification number What is the definition of Security levels Security Level 1 The level of which minimum appropriate protective security measures shall be maintained at all times Security Level 2 The level of which appropriate additional protective security measures shall be maintained for a period of time as a the content of quality system on your vessel and where do you get it QUALITY SYSTEM FOR VESSELS CONSISTS OF THE FOLLOWING MANUALS VESSEL MANUAL SAFETY MANUAL VESSEL RESPONSE PLAN DUTY PLANS PROCEDURES CHECKLISTS FORMS AND ARTICLES CIRCULAR LETTERS CARGO SECURING MANUAL THESE MANUALS ARE ALL LOCATED IN THE CONFERENCE ROOM AND ALL CREW ARE ENCOURAGED TO READ THESE MANUALS AS OFTEN AS POSSIBLE What is should be held by the company to ensure that the SMS is being complied with and the system itself should be reviewed periodically to evaluate its efficiency The company shall carry out internal audit to verify whether safety and pollution prevention activities comply with the SMS What is D O C and SMC Companies which comply with the Code should be issued with a document of compliance Administrations should also issue a Safety Management Certificate to ship indicate that the company operates in accordance with the SMS and periodic checks should be carried out to verify that the comply with the technical regulations of the MARPOL Convention Annex 1 About Waste oil The discharge of oil is completely forbidden underway We always transfer the waste oil to the waste oil tank and then these oil should be transfered to incinerator service tank finally burned at incinerator If more waste oil produced we have no choice but store the residual oil to the tank and transfer them to the shore reception facilities when the ship alongside About the oil bilge from machine space we always keep them at the bilge water tank first and when the ship is far from land more than 12 miles the bilge water can be transfered to overboard through the oily water separator meantime something must pay attention such as oil discharge monitoring and control systems on used the oil content must be less than 15 ppm completely forbidden discharge at some special areas like the Mediterranean Sea the Black Sea the Baltic Sea the Red Sea the Gulf Area the Oil Record Book must be filled properly How do you handle the sewage onship About sewage discharge we must the follow the requirement of MARPOL convention Annex 4 Ships are not permitted to discharge sewage within 4 miles of the nearest land unless they have in operation an approved treatment plant Between 4 and 12 miles from land sewage must be comminuted and disinfected before discharge How do you dispose the garbage on your ship The disposal of garbage onboard must comply the requirement of MARPOL Annex 5 The specific item are the plastics is forbidden into the sea the dunnage and packing material can t be throwed to sea within 25 miles from nearest land The food and other garbage including paper rag glass metal bottle can t be throwed to sea within 12 miles from nearest land the garbage ground and Diameter no more
