广东罗定县2017高考英语九月阅读理解课外选练(二)阅读理解。阅读下列短文, 从给的四个选项 (A、B、C和D) 中, 选出最佳选项。Increased use of the Internet and mobile phones is undermining pupils ability for independent study and promoting poor grammar, it was claimed. Cranfield School of Managementfound almost six in ten schoolchildrenwere copying information directly from websites for homework tasks without properly reading it. More than a quarter thought it was an acceptable practice, even though they know it was considered plagiarism(剽窃). The study, based on a sample of around 260 pupils aged from 11 to 18 at a secondary school in the Midlands, raised concerns that modern technology was having a destructive effect on young people. Andrew Kakabadse, professor of international management development at Cranfield, said, “Our research shows that technology obsession(痴迷)prevents spelling skills, encourages plagiarism, and disturbs classroom learning. ”“Despite school policies restricting mobile phone usage, students use the phone frequently, with the majority making calls from the toilets. The mobile phone continues to be a main channel of social communication during the school day. ”The report revealed that so-called“text-speak”was increasingly finding it was into pupils school work. Three in ten students admit to using text message shortcuts, such as“r u ok”in essays and classroom tasks. It followed a study earlier this year that found almost half of the teachers failed to understand some pupils writing because it was so full of confusing language. Phrases such as“innit”and“Gr8”were regularly found in school work. The Cranfield study found that mobile use was so common that many pupils chose to ignore school rules on phones. More than a third said they would use their mobile in class, while nearly three quarters said they would not even make an excuse to leave class to answer a phone call. 【文章大意】使用互联网和手机的学生越来越多了。可是, 科技不仅给学生们带来了便捷, 也给他们的学习带来了很多不利影响。1. So many of us look back at our own college years and realize what we could have done differently to make the most of them. While we cant go back, we certainly can offer our sons and daughters our best advice to help them make the right choices in college. Hopefully, they will have fewer regrets than we do. Following are five guidelines parents can share with their college-bound kids to put the whole experience in perspective.EDUCATION IS YOUR FIRST PRIORITY As soon as you arrive on campus, there will be competing interests. Feel free to check them out but always remember that you are there first and foremost for your education. Go to class prepared and on time. Be engaged during class. Make sure your professor knows you and realizes that you care.BE RESPONSIBLE There are many layers of responsibility. Do what you say you will do and, if you cant, own up to it early and communicate clearly. But being responsible isnt just about meeting your commitments; it is also about taking care of you, your body, and your friends. For example, more than 1800 college students die annually from alcohol-related injuries. Look out for yourself and other people. Make moderate(适度的), sensible decisions so you arent affected by the consequences later.TAKE THE OPPORTUNITY Incredible opportunities will present themselves: studying abroad, interning at a unique place, trying new things. Dont let fear prevent you from taking advantage of them. There may never be so much time or as many resources devoted to your betterment again in your life. Say yes to opportunities that will help you grow.FIND AND BE A MENTOR(良师益友) Some of the best lessons available to us can come outside of the classroom in the form of a mentor. One of the most powerful growth opportunities is being a mentor. Early on, find someone on campus who you feel can help you grow and develop a relationship with him or her. Also find someone for you to mentor. You will reinforce and enrich your own learning experience by teaching someone else.GET THE JOB DONE It is natural to occasionally feel you want to quit, when it makes more sense to you to go find a full-time job. Resist that urge. As Jocelyn Negron-Rios, a mother of two, who is currently completing her degree, advises, No matter how difficult it seems, keep at it because however insurmountable(难以对付的)it feels now multiply that by 10,000 and that is how it feels when you are in your thirties with a full-time job and a family and are trying to pursue a degree.1. According to the passage, the most important thing for college students is _. A. taking part in different activities B. working hard to get a degree C. seizing every chance to try new things D. improving themselves by learning from the others2. Which of the following about college life is true? A. Passing on what youve learned in college can help you enrich your learning experience. B. Make sure that you are responsible for yourself rather than others. C. Professors will not assess your performances in class but the grades you get in exams. D. You can make full use of the opportunity whenever you want. 3. What can we infer from the words said by Jocelyn in the last paragraph? A. Persistence is the key to success when you meet with difficulties in your learning process. B. It is better if you gain more working experience before you finish your education. C. As long as you work hard, you can gain a degree even when you are in your thirties. D. Youth is the best time to learn since you have less burden.4. What is the main purpose of the passage? A. To give some rules for the college students. B. To call on the students to make full use of college years. C. To summarize some tips for parents to share with their children. D. To analyze the benefits and difficulties of college life.参考答案、BADC 阅读下面短文,掌握其大意,从每题所给的A、B、C、D四个选项中,选出最佳选项,并在答题卡上将该项涂黑。If, for some reason, you had 2, 010 empty plastic bottles, what would you do? Youd probably sell them cheaply, right? But Xia Yu collected 2, 010 bottles and built a boat with them. As you read this, Xia is, in fact, on a river somewhere in Anhui, slowly going towards his destination: the Expo Garden in Shanghai. 2, 010 plastic bottles was to celebrate Expo (世博会)2010 Shanghai. On the opening day of the Expo, Xia, together with five friends, went on a 1, 500 kilometres journey from Xiangtan to the Expo Garden, in spite of the doubt whether theyll make it. After all, the boat they are on can hardly be called a boat. It cost only 2, 000 yuan to build in a month. Whats keeping Xia going is a major cause behind the trip. “We are examining water pollution through our journey and trying to promote a low-carbon (低碳)lifestyle. Before we started, no one believed we could sail the boat to the Dongting Lake. But we made it.”But as they expected, the journey has not always been smooth. Of the six from Xiangtan, four gave up. As of the press time (到发稿时), only Xia and his friend Huang Ying were on the boat. Huang suffered from a disease when they reached Jiujiang, Jiangxi Province. Xia said, “There are so many things that can stop up from making it to Shanghai, like the weather, health, and sometimes swift river water.”“The boat was produced in a factory according to our design, and perhaps its not in a very good condition. But,”Xia said, “we are wearing life jackets”. “Some boats passing by offered help.”What is more of a reward for Xia and Huang is that the Yangtze River turned out much cleaner than they had expected. Although Xia and Huang are uncertain about the journey ahead, they are “quite happy”with what they have already achieved. “After all, its not the destination that counts. Its always the course that matters the most.”1. Xia Yu doubts the success of the journey because of_.A. such a long journey on the riverB. the poor boat and the bad weatherC. few people taking part in the journeyD. the seriously polluted river in some parts2. Which of the following is NOT the purpose of the journey? A. To examine water pollution. B. To celebrate Expo 2010 Shanghai. C. To win a race on the water. D. To promote a low-carbon lifestyle. 3. From the text we know that_.A. they stay on the boat at nightB. three people gave up due to their bad healthC. Xia Yu and his mate have arrived in ShanghaiD. Huang suffered from a disease on the journey4. The last paragraph tells us Xia Yu and Huang Ying_.A. pay more attention to the processB. are sure to arrive at the destinationC. helped turn the Yangtze River cleanerD. are happy because of their final success【参考答案】34.BCDA 阅读下面短文,掌握其大意,从每题所给的A、B、C、D四个选项中,选出最佳选项,并在答题卡上将该项涂黑。I didnt realize how short I was until I started school. There, a few kids picked on(欺负)me, calling me names. Then I knew. After that, I began to hate the first day of school each year. I didnt know who was new and would stare at me as I struggled to climb the school bus stairs. Some of the kids would point and say, “Look at that kid. Look at her.”As time went on, I just tried to smile and accept the fact that I was going to be noticed my whole life. I was determined to make my uniqueness an advantage rather than a disadvantage. My friends became increasingly protective. Theyd help me up the bus steps. If people were cruel, they would take them aside and correct them. What I lacked in height, I made up for in personalitymy ability to laugh, even at myself. For example, one time I was reaching into the washing machine at my parents house to grab the wet clothes. I fell all the way in and yell for Mother, who was sitting nearby reading the paper. Watching feet flying everywhere, she laughed quietly and said, “I should leave you there.”I laughed with her. Im 47 now, and the stares have not decreased as Ive grown older. People ask my
