教学设计Teaching Plan for GFI-U4: Dont eat in class.Instructor: Jessica Lv(吕小兰) (Dangjia Middle School)Duration: 45 minutesTarget Students: Junior One Students from Dangjia Middle School I. Teaching Objectives:After this lesson, students will be able to(1). learn a series of words and phrases about rules at school;(2). learn to talk about school rules with modal verbs “can” “have to” “must”;(3) strengthen their pronunciation by reading aloud after the tape and doing report;(4). enhance their awareness of following the rules.II. Teaching importance and difficulties:This lesson mainly focuses on simple modal verbs, during which students activate their prior knowledge to talk about different rules at school. Students may have difficulty using “can” “have to” and “must” in the correct way, since modals verbs are a new type of verbs for them, so during the lesson, the new words will be explained and practiced, and samples will be given. Besides, as new students in Junior One, students may still have trouble pronouncing the words natively, so they will be asked to read after the tape in class. III. Teaching Procedures (Ss=students, T=teacher)Part One: Lead-inStep 1.The T shows several beautiful pictures of the school to the Ss, in this way, I want to stimulate their love for the school. Then I will show some bad phenomenon at school and introduce the sentence “We cant rule a country without rules!” to lead in the key phrase “school rules”.Step 2. Ss look at some pictures, and they will lead them to talk about behaviors of breaking the rules. Part Two: Listening (P19:1a-1c)Step 1 Pre-Listening 1. Ss try to retell the school rules they learned just now and then look at Ex.1a and find out the new words to enhance their pronunciation and understanding of the new words: arrive, hallways, fight and so on. (Purpose: this is to help Ss to familiarize the pronunciation of the rules, so as to help with their listening.)2. (Ex. 1a) Ss look at the pictures and write the number of the rule next to the student. Step 2 While-Listening (Ex. 1b) Listen and write the rule numbers that the students break after the names. Step 3 After-Listening1. Memory test by telling the school rules as soon as they see the picture.2. Show Ss some new pictures and invite Ss to do the pair work:A: Whats the rule?B: We cant (Purpose: this is to help Ss to grasp the new phrases about rules.) (P20:2a-2c)Step 1 Pre-Listening Ss look at a list of rules check whether they have ever disobeyed the rules. (Purpose: this is to help Ss to familiarize the phrases they are going to hear.)Step 2 While-Listening 1. (Ex. 2a) Listen and check the activities Alan and Cindy talk about.2. (Ex. 2b) Listen again. Can Alan and Cindy do these activities? Circle can or cant above. Step 3 After-Listening1. T categorizes the rules into “CAN” and “CANT” and asks Ss to read out. 2. T will lead Ss to review the rules Alan and Cindy talk about by making dialogues like this: What are the rules? We cant listen to music in the classroom or hallways. But we can listen to music in the music room.Part Three: 2d. Role-Play the Conversation Step 1 Understanding of the conversation 1. Ss only listen to the tape for the first time and read after the tape about the conversation for the second time.2. T explains a few key words and Ss read the conversation for at least twice.Step 2 Ss fill in the blanks according to the conversation. Hi. Im John. Its my at school. This is a school, but . We cant . This is very important. We must . And we cant . We always have to . Oh, we also have to . (Purpose: this is to help Ss to familiarize the structure to do a report about school rules, so as to prepare for the group work at the end of the class.)Part Four: Group WorkStep 1 Ss discuss in group of four and try to make their own class rules.Step 2 Choose a student to make a report. A sample report will be given as follows. To make our school beautiful, in our _, we have to follow the rules: 1. Dont_ 2. We cant _ 3. We have to _ 4. We must _. We should try to follow the rule
