Everyone can try his best to help others.” T: Look at the picture and ask the students, Who is he? He is Guomingyi.He gives people help without hope of reward.(回报)show some pictures and ask: What are they doing ?Ss: They are helping to clean up the city parks.T: What about them?Ss: They are helping sick people in the hospital.T: Who are they? They are volunteers. New word: volunteers What do the volunteers do in the picture ? Ss: They give people help without hope of reward.T: Good. We have heard of many good deeds done by volunteers all over the country. They are great. They give people help without hope of reward. Do you want to be a volunteer?Step 2Work on 1a1.1a Say:Please look at the picture now. We can see a bulletin board and two children in it.What is the bulletin board about? Help students to answer:Volunteer Today! Draw the students attention to the three posters on the boardWe can see one sentence in each poster. And we can see some people in each poster,too.What are the volunteers doing in each poster? Please work in pairs and talk about the posters after the example. Then ask some pairs to report their answers. After the students have finished all the items, ask students to let them know there are many ways to help people.eg.You could help to sent food to the poor people. You could help to clean the yards of the community. 2. Then have them list other ways they could help people.At last, ask some students to share their ideas with the class. Write some new words or phrases on the board and explain these words or phrases to the class if necessary.Step 3Work on 1bCall the students attention to the sentences in Activity lb. Ask students to read the sentences by themselves. Explain some new words and phrases in them.Make sure that all the students can understand the meanings of the four items.Ask them to listen carefully and fill in the blanks. Listen again and check the answers.Step 4Work on 1cRead the instructions with the class.Call their attention to the example in the speech bubbles in Activity 1a. Ask a pair of students to read this conversation to the class.Then let them practice in pairs using the information in 1b.Encourage them to make up new drills.Step 5Work on 2aT: We can see five pictures in Activity 2a. What can you see in each picture?Ask five different students to describe the pictures.After that, ask a student to read the words on the TV screen, on the sign and in the newspaper.Play the recording for the first time.Students only listen.Play the recording again. Ask students to check the things they hear.Check the answers.Step 6Work on 2bRead the instructions with the class. And let them have a look at the sentences.Read the first sentence to the students.Tell them it is a sample answer.Then say, “We will hear the same recording again. This time listen carefully to what the students say and fill in the blanks in the sentences.”Play the tape again and the students write out the answers.Check the answers.Step 7Group work on 2cThe teacher says, “Well have a school cleanup tomorrow. We need to come up with a plan. What would you like to do? Talk about it in your group and come up with a plan.”A: We need to come up with a plan for the school cleanup.B: Lets have lunch first. They told me stories about the past and how things used to be. used to do sth. 过去常常做某事; 表示过去习惯性、经常性的动作或状态,e.g. I used to go to the Youth Center. But I have no time now. 我过去经常去青少年中心,但现在我没有时间了。暗指现在已经不存在。used无人称和时态的变化。Grandparents used to tell us stories when we were very young. 在我们小时候祖父母常给我们讲故事 听。2. Yeah, a lot of old people are lonely. lonely adj. 孤独的;寂寞的。指精神上感觉孤独、寂寞。e.g. The old man feels lonely, so he raises a dog. 那名老人觉得很孤独,因此他养了一只狗。3. We need to come up with a plan for the City Park Clean-up Day. need 用实义动词,“必要”、“必需”。有人称、数和时态的变化,接名词、代词、. The man needs an English dictionary when he works. 这个人在工作时需要一本英语词典。 Do you need to see him yourself? 你必需亲自见他吗?动名词或带 to 的不定式作宾语。3.clean up “打扫;清理”。如果在clean 和up间加个连字符号, 它就是名词了, 意为“扫除”。e.g. You must give your classroom a good clean-up. 4. come up with 提出(观点,看法)。e.g. Hescome up witha great idea. 他想出了一个绝好的办法。 I came up with a better plan than that. 我提供了一个比那还好的计划。come up with 提出(观点,看法)。Step 10 Write a compositionStep 11SummaryT: In this class, weve mainly talked about offering help.
