Unit 6 Do you like bananas? Section A (1a-1c)Analysis of teaching materialsCommunicative function of this unit is talk about food , likes and dislikes .In unit 5,the communicative function is talk about ownership , this unit is followed by unit 5 , both useful in daily life .the grammar is same with the last unit , present tense , what different is that in the last unit , the main content is some sport activity , in this unit , the target language is food ,Do you like .? ,Yes ,I do / No, I do not .Analysis of studentsStudents have a basic understanding about how to use present tense and express their opinion ,As middle high school students, they are very active and also very interest in this topic , so they will enjoy the lesson if well inspired ,Teaching objectivesAKnowledge objectives1.Students should be able to use the vocabulary of food ,banana, pear, strawberry, orange, tomato , hamburger, salad, milk, bread2.Understand the usage of countable noun and uncountable noun 3.Grasp the sentence pattern:-Do you like bananas? -Yes, I do. No,I dont. BLinguistic skill1.Ask others likes and dislikes2. Express their opinion in two different way .CLearning strategy1.They could cooperate with their classmate to learn things more efficiently.2.Students could predict the topic before listening .DAffects1 respect others eating habit 2. care about their closet and dearest ones eating preference . 3. keep a balanced diet .ECultureKnow the different eating habit between Chinese and westerner .Teaching focus and difficult pointsTeaching focus 1.grasp the important word :remember the food name ,including fruits and vegetables2.important sentence pattern Students are able to use “Do you like? ” “Yes, I do. I like. / No, I dont. I dont like ”Difficult point 1.countable noun and uncountable noun 2.use the important word to express likes and dislikes Teaching methods and studying waysTeaching method and studying way1.show a picture of supermarket to hold students interests ,gather the students to discuss what do they like ,and ask them “do you like?” to introduce the sentence pattern .2.Then learn this word one by one , write these word on blackboard , so they can see the right form clearly ,teach the pronounce by high and low voice .3.Ask several students to speak the English name of the word we have learnt according to the picture. Students could compete with their classmate .4.Give them several examples to compare the word , they can see the difference clearly between countable noun and uncountable noun ,5.Gther students to predict what the conversation will talk about , they could learn some listening strategies.6.Creat some situation , students could talk freely and naturally .7.Introude the different eating style ,they could understand the topic better .8.Design an extra curriculum activity and a survey , so they could cooperate with their classmate and learn how to collect information .Teaching proceduresStep 1 : Free talk & lead in 2 Ask students what do they like ,attract students interest to learn the foods name .Step 2 : Presentation 5Show the words on PPT, learn the new words together .Read the word in low or high voice according to my order .Step 3 : Practice 11Exercise 1Show the picture , they should tell me their English name one by one .2) Exercise 2Compare the countable noun and uncountable noun ,then fill the chart with their partner .3) Exercise 3 A. Guide students to talk about the picture on page 31.guess where they are ,what time is it , what are they doing .B. Match the words with the pictures on page 31 .then check the answers.Step 4 :Listening 121)Pre-listening :drawing students attention to the picture of 1a, and analysis the picture together.2)While-listening :At the first time, they should get a general understanding of the topic and circle the key words. During the second time, Students should find detail information and number the conversation. 3)Post-listening check answers and give the reasons Step 5 : Oral practice 10Pair work Situation :Telling the students I am fat, do you know why ?Could you give me some suggestions. If you want to keep fit ,you should keep a balanced diet. Ask their partner what does she/ he like ? Make a eating plan for their partner according to her/his healthy state.role playIntroduce the different eating habit between Chinese and westerners.Such as ,we use chopsticks , but they use fork and knife ,we eat rice , but they eat bread more often .Situation :Amy is an exchange student, she will live in your home .So make a survey about her preference ,suppose one of you is Amy .then make a recipe for her .Then choose the best actors the show their conversation .Step 6 : Review 2Summarize what we have learnt today Step 7 : Homework 21.Extra curriculum activity.
