Ability aim:1) Improve students reading skills, especially in skimming and scanning.2) Learn to describe the Chinese traditional art.3. Affective aim:Build students awareness of Chinese traditional art and be proud of it. . Important teaching points:1. Enable students to master the reading skills.2. Understand the passage using the passive voice. Difficult teaching points:Master the passage using the passive voice. Teaching Method:TBLT. Learning method:Group work, pair work, individual work. Teaching Aids:PPT, blackboard, chalk. Teaching procedures and contents:Step1. Review (3mins)1. Warm up: greeting.2. Introduce the two meanings of “ 中国制造” and talk about something made by China, which is named Chinese traditional art.Step2. Pre-reading (2mins)1. Predict the main idea of passage according to the title and pictures given.Step3. Reading (30mins)Task1. Skimming1. Try to summarize the topic sentence and key words in each paragraph.Para 1 - Each different part of China has its own special forms of traditional art. Para 2 - According to Chinese history, sky lanterns were first used by Zhuge Kongming.Para 3 - Paper cutting has been around for over 1,500 years. Para 4 - Chinese clay art is famous because the clay pieces are so small but they look very real. 2. Analyse the strcture of passage.Part 1 (general introduction) Para 1.Part 2(examples and details)Para 2-4. Task2. Scanning(1). Finish the exercise P38-39.
