Pre-reading activities.1. Lead in(1)At the beginning of the class, tell the Ss “I want to introduce my special friends to you. See who are they?” Then show robots to the Ss. Go on saying, “They are robots. Lets enjoy a piece of video to know more about them.”After that, the teacher can ask the Ss:*What do the robots look like? They look like _.( human)*What can they do? They can _. (dance)After the Ss give the answers. Show the Ss other relative pictures one by one, in which some robots are doing different kinds of activities. Go on asking:What can this robot do? It can _.(cook)*What can the robot do? It can sweep the floor.*What can this robot do? It can play the violin.After leading the Ss to answer what can robots do, in each picture. Then tell the Ss:*As you can see, these robots look like _.(humans)Show another group of robots to the Ss and ask the Ss talk about them. (2)Tell the Ss: We have only know a little about robots. Next lets learn more about robots.(3)Review Ask Ss to read these new words together 。Step II. While-reading activities.1. Read the title and the picture for predicting.(1) First ask the Ss to watch the picture on P53 carefully and answer the following questions:What are robots doing in the picture?(Dancing)(2) Then ask the Ss to read the title “Do you think youll have your own robot?” and guess:What can we learn from the title and the picture?Show Reading strategy-Predicting: “You can predict what you will read by reading the title and the picture.”Lead the Ss to learn to use the information from the title and the given picture to guess what they might read in the article.2. Skimming. Read the passage fast and silently to find the main idea. (1)Ask the Ss to read the article carefully and find out the main idea of the whole article:-What is the article about?-It is about _.A. What robots look like in the moviesB. What robots can do todayC. Robots today (现状) and future (2) First ask the Ss: How many paragraphs are there in the article? (Four) Tell the Ss in each paragraph there is a question. Then listen to the passage and match each paragraph with the right question it discusses.Paragraph 1 Will robots think like humans in the future?Paragraph 2 What will robots be like in the future?Paragraph 3 What can robots do today?Paragraph 4 What are robots like in movies?3. Scanning(1) Read paragraph 1 and answer:(A)In what kind of movies, we sometimes see robots? In the movies about the future.(B)What are they like? They are like human servants.(2)Read paragraph 2.find the phrases and complete the sentences.A. Robots can build cars in factories.B. They can do simple jobs many times and not get bored.(3) Read paragraph 3.fill the blanks.(4) Read paragraph 3.again and find out the key words.(5) Read paragraph 4. finish the mind map.(6)Read paragraph 4. again and find out the key words.Step III. Group work1.Work in groups.
