Reading Practice For Unit OneTeaching Aims: To use the new vocabulary and expressions to practice reading To learn some reading skills. To lead the Ss to love reading and improve reading abilities.Teaching difficulties: Use proper reading strategies to practice reading.Teaching process: I. Warming Up Briefly review the useful expressions in Unit One. Introduce the importance of use proper strategies to practice reading and writing in Grade Three. II. Reading Practice The strategies we need while reading mainly include: tell the main idea; use the context to infer, understand the meaning and so on. The sentences at the beginning of a paragraph are often used to tell the main idea of the paragraph. Show the sample paragraph.l A, Remember reading shouldnt be boring.l B, Define your purpose for readingl C, Set a reading goall D, Whether you are reading fiction or nonfiction, its important to enjoy what you read.l E, When you dont set a last date to complete your book, there isnt a sense of urgency.l 1, _1_l Before you start reading, ask yourself why you are reading the book. Most people read for two main reasons- pleasure or knowledge. Being specific and clear about your reading purpose not only helps you to eliminate (排除) books that you dont need to read, but also reminds you why reading the book is important to you as you are reading it. This motivates you to keep reading and complete the book faster.l 2, Read only what you are attracted to l _2_ Your friend may recommend books that they love, but those books may not necessarily be the ones you enjoy.l 3, Give up books that you dont enjoyl You may have selected books that you are attracted to. But as you are reading them, there may still be some books that you wont enjoy reading.l Whenever you realize that you arent enjoying the book you are reading, give it up. _3_l 4, _4_l Having a reading goal helps you figure out how much reading you need to do in a week or even a day.l 5, Give yourself a deadline to complete each book.l Before you read each book, ask yourself when you need to complete this book.l What I find interesting is that I tend to read the books that I borrow from libraries faster than the books I bought. The reason is the books I bought dont have a due date! I dont need to return those books.l _5_ And when something isnt urgent, you tend to procrastinate.(拖延)l Ask the Ss to read through the whole passage and get the main idea of the passage, l Then ask them to complete the passage using the methods introduced. Ask some l Individual students to explain their answer.l Ss tell how to do such exercises.l Show another passage.l One, fill ,quick, write, except, interest, you, late, come, story, unless, youngl Just look at how much young writers like Han Han and Guo Jingming are loved, and we may know writing has become a fashion among todays teenagers. l Gao Can, a 13-year-old girl, is the _1_ member of the Association of Writers of Shanxi.
