Teaching Aids A computer, chalk, a videoVI. Teaching ProceduresStep 1 Revision/Lead InBoys and girls, look at the picture. We saw it last time. What is it about? (Its about school rules. ) Yes, its about school rules. We cant arrive late for school. We must be on time. They are our school rules. What else? . At school, we have school rules. At home, we also have family rules. Step 2 New Lesson I know a boy. His name is Dave. He also has some family rules. Lets meet him first. Look at picture a. This boy is Dave. He is not at home. He is out. So we can say “go out”. Look at picture b. Dave is in the kitchen. What is he doing? (He is doing the dishes.) What about picture e? (He is practicing the guitar.) Follow me: go out / do the dishes / practice the guitar.More things about Dave are in our English books. Open your books at page 22. Look at 1a. The pictures are about Dave. Match the pictures(a-h) with the rules in 1b. I think you can find the answers. Who can tell us the answers? Step 3 Listening PracticeThere are some things Dave cant do or has to do. Lets listen to Daves words. When you are listening, pleas look at 1b. Pay attention to cant, have to and must. You should also look at 1c. Pay attention to the phrases. Who can read the phrases? Now lets listen. . Have you finished? Lets check your answers. We know Dave cant go out on school nights. Can Dave see friends? ( No, he cant. ) When cant he see friends? ( On school days. ) So we can say: Dave cant see friends on school days. What about doing his homework? (He has to do his homework after school.) How about practicing the guitar? (He must practice the guitar before dinner.)Step 4 PairworkNow you know so much about Daves rules. I want you to talk more about them. Look at the screen. You guys are A. And you guys are B. You have 2 minutes. Please begin. Who can come to the front and show us. Step 5 Talk About Miss Lius Family Rules These are about Daves family rules. Do you want to know mine?( Yes. ) Well. Let me show you. Look at the picture. Who are they? (You and your daughter.) I love my daughter very much. Also, I like watching TV very much. When can I watch it? Guess! . Yes, you are right. So I can tell you my rules like this: I can watch TV in the evening, but I cant watch it from Monday to Friday. ( because it is not good for my daughter. She has to do her homework, just like you.) . Pay attention to the red words: I can/cant/must/have to . Step 6 Guessing Game You know I love my daughter very much. So I make some rules for her. Can you guess them? Let me give you some information first. Look at the pictures. This is my daughter. He is her father. He teaches tennis. My daughter likes playing the piano. At home, she often helps me. Look! She is folding her clothes beside her piano. She is cleaning her room. There are 6 rules. Three of them are my daughters. Try to find them. Talk about them with your friends. Four students are in one group. You have about 2 minutes. Please talk and guess. Who can find my daughters rules?Step 7 Write And Guess Write family rules and ask your friends to guess yours.You know the rules in my family. What about yours? Look at the mind map. These can help you to write. You can write like this: I have to get up at 6:00 a.m. / I cant watch TV before dinner. Its time for you to write. Write 3 family rules. Two of them are true for you.
