Unit 6 Im watching TV.Section A(1a2d)何少梅Students Situation Analysis:The majority of students are interested in learning English and are confident of learning English well. They are keen on imitating others and participating in different activities, such as group completion and role plays. However, their language organizing ability and logical expression ability still need to be improved.Teaching content analysis: This unit is mainly about what people are doing. 1a shows the daily activities of this unit, presenting the basic target languages of this unit-simple present tense. 1b and 1c is related to listening and speaking. Teaching aims:1. Knowledge aims: students can master the words newspaper, read a newspaper, use, use the computer, soup, make soup, wash and wash the dishes, and major sentence pattern: What are you doing? Im +Ving. What is he/she doing? He/She is +Ving. What are they doing? They are + Ving.2. Process aims: by completion, discussion, listening and role playing, students can talk about what people are doing.3. Emotional aims: students participate in class learning and discussion with active and enthusiastic attitude, experiencing the happiness and jovialityof learning English language.Teaching key points:Students can master the words and phrases newspaper, read a newspaper, use, use the computer, soup, make soup, wash and wash the dishes, and major sentence pattern simple present tense: What are you doing? Im +Ving. What is he/she doing? He/She is +Ving. What are they doing? They are + Ving.Teaching difficult points:Students can master the target language simple present tense: What are you doing? Im +Ving. What is he/she doing? He/She is +Ving. What are they doing? They are + Ving. And the structures of present participle.Teaching methods:Based on New Course Standard of English and the language level of Students, three teaching methods will be adopted, including discussion method, demonstration method and practice method. Blackboard, cards , tape recorder and multimedia computer will be applied during teaching process.Teaching procedures:1. Preview: students preview the content of unit 6 from 1a to 2c for 1 minute.2. New words: teacher shows the pictures and students learn new words and phrases: newspaper, read a newspaper, use, use the computer, soup, make soup, wash and wash the dishes. Then students practice these words and phrases by matching pictures and phrases.3. Presentation: teacher shows pictures and asks: whats she/ he doing? Students answers: she/he is using the computer/washing the dishes/exercising/listening to music/reading a newspaper. 4. Explanation: present progressive tense and the structures of present participles.5. Focus on the Activity 1a in textbook. Students match the activities with the pictures.6. Pairwork: teacher shows pictures and students practice: whats he/she doing? Students answers: He / She is cleaning the floor/watching TV/ making soup/ doing the dishes/running. Then students put up their hands and perform the conversations.teacher asks: what are you doing? Students answer: I am having English class. / Teacher shows pictures and guides students to use phrases: talking on the phone/watching TV/making soup/cleaning the room.6. Talking: teacher shows pictures and students practice: whats he doing? Students answers: hes reading newspapers. Whats she doing? She is listening to music/ using the computer. What are they doing? They are swimming. Then students put up their hands and perform the conversations. 7. Guessing game: what are they doing? They are dancing/ exercising/ talking on the phone.8. For 1b, teachers guide students observe 1a and asks: whos Bob? Whos Jenny? Whos John? Then students listen to the tape and complete the task. Then we check the answers together. For 2a, students listen and match the answers with the questions. For 2b, listen again, fill in the blanks. Then we check the answers together. 9. For 2d, students read the conversation and match. See ppt. Students listen to the tape and read the conversation. Then students explain language points first then teachers shows ppt. 8. Exercise: 9. Summarize the words and the target languages.
