Unit8 When is your birthday? Section A 教学设计1.Teaching goals:(1)Knowledge goalsNew words and phrases: month,January,Febrary,March,April,May,June,July,August,September,October,November, December, birthday, first, second, thirdTarget Languages: When is your birthday?My birthday is on January 1st.When is Lilys/her birthday? Lilys birthday is on July 20th. Her Grammar: How to ask and answer “When is someones birthday?”(2)Ability goals:1) Learn to express someones birthday.2) Train students listening and speaking skills.3) Train students communication skills.(3)Moral goals Teach Ss to learn to ask and answer when someones birthday. In our life, we should remember our parents birthdays, remember our parents love for us! Learn to be thankful!2. Analysis of the studentsThe topic of this unit is to talk about our birthdays. Students mainly learn to how to express someones birthday. Students should learn to ask their friends birthdays. My students have learned English for a few years, so they have the ability to express their opinions. And, they can be interested in the topic of birthday. I believe they can learn new language points easily. But a few students are so shy that they are afraid of expressing themselves, I can encourage them to speak English bravely.3.Teaching important points:(1)New words and drills.(2) Learn to express someones birthday.4.Teaching difficult points:Learn to express someones birthday.5.Teaching methods:(1)Listening and speaking methods.(2)Task-based teaching method.(3)Pair-work and group-work6.教学过程:Step1.Lead inStudents watch a video. Talk about the video.设计意图:以视频形式导入,气氛轻松活跃,提高学生兴趣,学生易于理解学习。Step2.Show the aims and language points1.Learn the months from January to December 2.Learn the ordinal numbers from 1st to 99th 3.Say the date4.Be able to talk about ones birthday by using When is your/his/her/Toms birthday? - My/His/Her/Toms birthday is in August/ on June 10th设计意图:学生对于本节课所学的目标语言有了初步的了解,学习效果更好。Step3.Learn new phrases1. Study the months of the year: January,Febrary,March,April,May,June,July,August,September,October,November, December2. Learn “How to express the dates”3. Have a challenge Say the dates in English on the screen quickly.设计意图:学习新知并以游戏形式复习巩固词汇,学生更感兴趣,效果更好。Step4.Learn the new expression“When is your birthday?-My birthday is on July the first”1. Read the expressions to the class and the students repeat.2. Say, when is your birthday? Have the students to answer .Ask students to give their own birthday dates. 3. Pair work,students ask and answer in pairs according to the pictures.设计意图:运用自己熟悉的同学的图片进行展示使内容形象直观,提高学生学习的兴趣和学习的主动性。Step5. Listening 1b and 2c1. T: Now listen to the recording and number the conversations 1-3.2. Play the recording for the first time. Students only listen. Play the recording a second time. Listen and match the names, months and days.3. Play the recording again. Check the answers with the Ss.设计意图:通过听力练习,训练学生对于词汇,句型和语法的综合运用能力,培养学生使用英语进行交际的能力。Step6.Groupwork1. Introduce some people.2. Find out their birthday dates and fill in the chart, then give a report.Report like this: As birthday is on , she/he is years old, she/he likes, she/he doesnt like Bs birthday 设计意图:通过小组活动,激发学生兴趣,让学生们模仿真实情景说英语,真正的学以致用。Step7.Summary1.Ask someones birthday date:When is _ birthday?2.Express the birthday dates: My birthday is on June 1st.设计意图:通过学生小结,巩固所学知识。Step8.RememberPlease remember your parents birthdays, remember your parents love for you!
