必修4第一单元 Unit1 Women of achievement第一课时阅读课A student of African wildlife步骤1:Warming-up通过Guessing game引入新课,老师先描述人物的主要事迹让学生猜测这些女性是谁。T: I will describe some women to you.Please guess who they are according to my description. She was born in Wuhan and graduated from Huazhong University of Science and Technology.She is a Chinese professional tennis player.She got fourth place in Womens Tennis Singles in the 2008 Olympic Games.With her performance at the 2011 Australian Open, she became the first player from an Asian country to appear in a Grand Slam Singles Final.Ss: She is Li Na. T: She was born in Poland in 1867 and passed away in 1934.Her family was poor but she spared no effort to go on with her study.She devoted her life to scientific research.She is known as the scientist who discovered Radium & Polonium.She respectively won the Nobel Prize for physics and Nobel Prize for chemistry in 1903 and 1911.Ss: She is Madam Curie.T: She was born in Tuscumbia, Alabama in 1880 and her disabilities were caused by a fever. She was the first deafblind person to earn a Bachelor of Arts Degree. She was an American author, political activist and lecturer. Her book Three Days to See has influenced and moved many people in the world.Ss: She is Helen Keller.T: She was born in Shanghai on Jan. 27th, 1893. She was one of the greatest leaders of China and well-known as stateswoman. She concerned herself with welfare projects, especially for China Welfare Institute for Women and Children.She was honored as one of the greatest women of the 20th century and is remembered by the Chinese people forever.Ss: She is Song Qingling.T: She was born in England on July 31st, 1965. Her writing career started at the age of six when she wrote a story called Rabbit. As unemployed single parent, her life was hard when she wrote Harry Potter the Philosophers Stone. Her Harry Potter series has won numerous awards and become a tremendous success around the world.Ss: She is Joanne Kathleen Rowling 设计意图:通过游戏的方式,进行导入和热身活动,减轻学生上课伊始的紧张感,使他们快速地融入课堂,成为课堂教学活动的主体。在游戏材料的选择上对教材原有的Warming-up部分进行了调整,选择了五个杰出女性的来自不同的时代,不同的背景,不同的职业,不同的国家,但都是广为人知的,此处能帮助学生激活原有知识,降低学生学习难度,激发学生兴趣。通过对她们主要事迹的描述也为后一步的讨论打下了基础。T: Brainstorm: What qualities do you think a great woman should have?Ss:T: Discussion:What problems did they have to overcome or give up to achieve their achievement?Ss:设计意图:通过头脑风暴让学生归纳描述人物品质的词语,进一步讨论女性在成就梦想过程中所遇到的重重困难,让学生了解女性成功的不易,以及要取得成功所需具有的品质,为阅读Jane Goodall的故事打下基础。步骤2:Reading从标题入手提出三个问题,让学生通过Scanning来回答1. Who is the student?2. Why did she go there?3. What wildlife does she study?设计意图:从标题入手提出问题可以帮助学生形成预测文章的能力,在通过找读来检测答案,培养他们快速获取信息的能力。让学生通过Skimming找出每一段的主旨句,进一步帮助他们归纳出段落大意。Para. 1 Following Janes way of studying chimps, our group are all going to visit them in the forest. What is the significance of her discovery?设计意图:通过回答问题,让学生体会到Jane Goodall为黑猩猩研究所作出的贡献,并体会带作为女性她在野地考察中的不易。The last two paragraphs Protection Achievements设计意图:让学生细读最后两段,完成表格的填写,培养他们归纳重点信息的能力。步骤3:Post readingDiscussion:What qualities do you think Jane Goodall have? Find out the example from the passage to support your opinion.设计意图:讨论Jane Goodall所具有的品质的任务一方面是对Warming-up中讨论的延伸,另一方面也是对文章所描述内容的一个推断(我省高考阅读中推理判断题一直是一个难度较大的题)。而且Jane Goodall这些可贵品质也是值得学生特别是女生学习的,有助于帮助学生形成正确的情感价值观。Interview: 让学生观看一段视频,再进行记者访问的角色扮演活动。Work in pairs. Imagine one is a reporter who is interviewing Jane Goodall and the other is Jane Goodall.设计意图:视频中显示的是Jane Goodall现在所从事的保护环境的活动,是对课本阅读材料的延伸。通过模仿记者采访Jane Goodall,学生可以对课文内容进行回顾和复述,也能设计自己想对Jane Goodall想问的问题,这有助于提高语口交际的能力,也能提高他们的求知欲。步骤4:HomeworkGirls Task Boys TaskWrite a composition about your dream career, including1. what career that you want to choose and why.2.your character3.the difficulties that you may face on your way to achieve your dream and how you plan to overcome them Write a composition about a woman you admire, including1.who she and what she does2.her character3.why you admire her and what you have learned from her设计意图:分性别布置不同的家庭作业,女生是根据从本文后所受的启发来规划自己的未来,培养女学生的自信心、事业心和社会责任感;男生是描述他们所欣赏的身边的女性,让他们懂得欣赏和尊敬女性,建立正确的性别观和社会观。6.教学评价设计评价内容:学生课堂学习内容和课后作业。评价方法:本节课对学生的学习成果采用了自我评价,相互评价和教师评价相结合的形式自我评价:1.
