Unit 3 The meaning of colourWelcome to the unitTeaching aims: After learning this lesson, the students will be very much interested in Unit 3 “the meaning of colour”. They will be highly motivated, eager to know the meaning related to colours, and how different countries define different colours. Teaching procedures:Step 1 Warming up1. Ask Ss the question “What is your favorite colour?”, and the teacher also expects students to give some simple reasons why a specific colour is their favorite. (PPT4).2. A discussion on colours. (PPT 5-11)“PPT 5 is a display of more than 10 colours, and students can talk about their favorite colour. There are links connected to 6 specific colours, namely PPT 6, 7, 8, 9, 10 and 11. PPT 6 RedPPT 7 GreenPPT 8 YellowPPT 9 BluePPT 10 BlackPPT 11 White(6 different meanings related to a specific colour are displayed on the PPT, and students are asked such questions: what does red/green/black remind you of? The students will also understand that what they already know will help greatly in their reading.Teaching procedures:Step 1 Reading strategy1. Ask Ss to read “Reading strategy” on P35.2.
