Forrest Gump is a slow man. Favored by God, Gump is also a sweet, simple, direct man with incredible luck. Gump witnesses many historical moments of American history during the 1950s, 1960s, and 1970s. For example, he gives the inspiration to Elvis Presley, the famous rock-and-roll singer, and he witnessed the Watergate Scandal. Gump also joins the army in the Vietnam War and returns with his buddys dream, which later makes him a millionaire. He even runs across North America, and he also falls in love with the girl living next door in his childhood. Well, he really makes the unbelievable things come true. I love this guy. Gumps simple attitude towards life impresses me most. Whatever happens, Gump shows his gratitude and patience without any complaints. As the famous saying from the film goes, “Life was like a box of chocolates. You never know what youre gonna get.” Gump is so ordinary, also he is so great that he is one of heroes in my mind.Text twoRole Play-Talk ShowTitle: Heroes and Heroism1. F. heroisme.The qualities characteristic of a hero, as courage, bravery,fortitude, unselfishness, etc.; the display of suchqualities.Heroism is the self-devotion of genius manifestingitself in action. -Hare.Syn: Heroism, Courage, Fortitude, Bravery, Valor,Intrepidity, Gallantry.Usage: Courage is generic, denoting fearlessness or defianceof danger; fortitude is passive courage, the habit ofbearing up nobly under trials, danger, and sufferings;bravery is courage displayed in daring acts; valor iscourage in battle or other conflicts with livingopponents; intrepidity is firm courage, which shrinksnot amid the most appalling dangers; gallantry isadventurous courage, dashing into the thickest of thefight. Heroism may call into exercise all thesemodifications of courage. It is a contempt of danger,not from ignorance or inconsiderate levity, but from anoble devotion to some great cause, and a justconfidence of being able to meet danger in the spiritof such a cause.
