Unit 9 What does he look like? 颍上第三中学 段梅梅 Teaching objectivesBased on analysis of teaching material and target students, teaching objectives are designed as follows:Knowledge objectives:1.Students will be able to master the words such as differently、 put、 each、 way、 describe 、another.2.Students will be able to master the usages of pronouns and opposite adjectives of general description.3.Students will be able to master the sentence pattern: I like him because.Ability objectives: 1. Students will be able to understand the newspaper article in 2b.2. Students are expected to describe peoples looks using the words and sentence pattern they learned.3.Students will be able to develop reading strategies: scanning, skimming ,mind mapping and cooperating Emotional objectives: Students will learn to respect others and not to judge the person by their appearances.Part Teaching key and difficult pointsAccording to teaching objectives, the key point is learning to describe peoples looks and use pronouns, while the difficult point is that students can express how to describe people correctly.PartTeaching methodsI adopt Direct method 、PWP method and Task-based methodTeaching proceduresNow I would like to introduce my teaching procedures in details.Step1 Leading-in Ask students questions as follows :1. What is she doing? 2. Where does she work? 3. What does she do? 【Purpose: For one reason, students attention can be drawn and for the other,students prior knowledge about job can be activated.】Step2 Pre -reading1. Let students guess the meaning of police artist by using a picture.2 .Students complete the chart with words of the opposite meaning.3.Students learn words by themselves. If necessary, teacher helps.【Purpose: Comprehension of police artist paves the way for the following reading.It makes the students eager to read the passage】Step3 While-reading1 Fast ReadingStudents read the article quickly and answer the following questions :(1) How does the police find the criminal?(2) Which picture shows the real criminal?【Purpose:Students find the general idea about the article through fast reading.】2 Careful Reading(1)Students read the article and write down what the pronounces refer to . (2)Write down the words about describing peoples looks and divide them into different boxes, then finish the mind map .(3) Ask students to circle the difficult sentence and teacher helps them understand it .【Purpose: Students can easily understand the article with the help of the mind map. 】Step 4Post-reading (1)Finish 3a using the words in the box .(2) Guide students to experience the questions in 3b through the passage in 3a.(3)Play the video of a girl who is talking about her favorite star .(4) Group work Divide students into groups of six. Then discuss their favorite singer star, film star ,sports star and so on. Then write down and show their writing.The teacher and students find some grammar mistakes together.【Purpose:Lead students to describe the person they like .At the same time ,its scaffolding for writing.】Step 5 Homework 1.Read the passage after the tape. 2.Every student writes down a pas
