Analysis on teaching materialsSection A of Unit 2 ( Book 8B Go for it )II. 1.Analysis of Teaching objectives1) Aims of basic language : A . key vocabulary- turn into, hide, magic , stick , excite , Western ,object B. Target language- Sometimes he can make the stick so small that he can keep it in his ear.-And as soon as the TV program came out more than 30 years ago, Western children became interested in reading this story because the clever Monkey King keeps fighting to help the weak and never gives up.2) Aims of abilities -To tell a story or a legend in ones own way , using target language.-To use conjunctions as soon as and so that to make sentences with adverbial clauses .-To grasp the useful reading skills by practice .3) . Aims of emotions and evaluation - To encourage students to be brave and kind to the weak around us .-To enjoy the traditional Chinese literature by reading good books.2. Teaching important and difficult points:-To learn how to use the target language to tell a story , a tale or a legend in correct English.-To learn to be brave and never give up.III . 1.Teaching Methods:-Reading comprehension method-Cooperating method-Taskbased language method2. Learning strategy: -Using the context-Role playing -Cooperating 3. Teaching aids : -CAI , forms , pictures , recorder and tape IV . Teaching procedure Step 1 Warming up -Get Ss to recognize the famous traditional Chinese tales by guessing games in a competition.-Talk about the pictures of both Chinese and Western folk stories or fairy tales , using the target language.Sept 2 . Representation -Brainstorm on the famous Chinese and Western tales that kids are interested in .-Encourage top Ss to tell the stories in their own language in the front.-Do a survey about their own stories that are unforgettable .Step 3 Task 1-Before reading or listening the text, have Ss predict the main idea of the passage in 3a.-Discuss on the guided questions listed in 3a in small groups after watching the video .- Listening practice on 3a , have Ss circle the key information for the 1st time .Step 4. Group work-T-Ss practice asking and answering accordingly in pairs .-Urge Ss to practice on reading skills individually by scanning and skidding to finish 3b in small groups .-Explain difficulties that Ss may meet in the context comprehension by showing up examples and exercises .Step 5 Practice - Reading through the article to enjoy the beauty of the language.-Get Ss to retell the article with the help of the key words listed by the teacher, and T gives help if necessary .Step 6 Summary 1 -Group discussion adverbial clauses with so that and as soon as .-Encourage top Ss to paraphrase the new target language , T offers help if possible .Step 7 Task 2 ( 3c ) -Read the instructions. Make sure Ss understand what should they do . - Ask Ss to read through the passage again , trying to work out the missing words individually.-Finish off 3c in the usual way , and do some reading of it together.Step 8 Group work -Group work on “What is Monkey King like ? ” and “ What can we do if we meet with the people in trouble ? ”-Summary on language points and the use of adverbial clause.Homework 1.Written work on her or his opinion on the Monkey King .2.Make plans in details for further reading about the traditional classical Chinese literature in their free time .VI .
