How often do you listen to music?Everyday. As soon as I get home I usually play something. Ive also got a Walkman/ ipod that I use, and so I often put it on while travelling on the bus because I cant stand all the noise of the traffic.2. What kind of music do you like?Definitely classical music. I have nearly every famous classical work ever recorded. I could sit for hours in a room with my stereo turned up, just listening to classical music. Ive also attended several concerts here in Beijing, where world famous orchestras have come to play the great works of Mozart, Beethoven, Chopin or other composers.3. What does music means to you?Music is really important for me. I really cannot imagine my life without music. Without music, my life would be so dull. For me, music is just like a loyal friend, who is always there when you need him/her. He gives me comfort when Im sad, gives me passion when Im high, and gives me company when Im lonely. Actually, Ive got no particular preference for music. I just listen to anything thats pleasant to my ear. And in fact, what I listen to really depends on my mood. Say, when Im in a bad mood, I usually choose something thats slow and soothing, whereas when Im in a good mood, I prefer something fast and strong and passionate.4. Are you good at singing?Im a terrible singer. I always sing out of tune. I love singing. Its my favorite relaxation and stress killer.5. Do you know any music instruments ?Can you play any any music instruments? traditional Chinese musical instrument, like Guzheng, which is a string(弦) instrument, something like zither(齐特琴). Its got about 20 strings, I dont know exactly how many, and you play it with both your hands, the left hand plucking(拉) the strings and the right hand touching the strings to control the pitch(高音). Its got a unique sound, very beautiful. I used to learn the piano for a while when I was in primary school, and then I had to stop it because of the heavy study pressure. They say playing instruments makes kids more intelligent, imaginative and creative. Playing a musical instrument is a marvelous hobby that can continue for a lifetime, and also its highly desirable skill If youre really good at playing an instrument, you can make a living out of it if you like. And its a really useful social skill, like you can show it on a party to entertain your friends, and you will be star of the party. And if you can play an instrument, you have a unique way of expressing your feelings. Like, you can play music to express your love to someone without actually say “I love you”. Its special and romantic. And it always works wonders. Learning to play a musical instrument takes time and energy, and lot of money as well. Im not very musical, so learning an instrument is really a tough job for me.【Conversations】 Todd: You said you like classical music very much. Then who is your favorite opera star?May: There are three of them, the Three Tenors(男高音演唱家).Todd: Oh, you mean Pavarotti, Domingo and Carreras. Have you been to their live shows?May: Yeah, its really a unique experience. Its a solo concert by Pavarotti. He put on the performance in the Forbidden City in Beijing.Todd: Ive heard of that one. It was also his swan song(绝笔,最后的作品;天鹅临死时的叫声).May: Besides, speaking of classical music, we should never forget about the New Years Concert.Todd: Of course not.
