Lead-inShow several pictures about twins to students,then students say out what they see,comparing them using some adjectives.Such as:tall,short,long hair,short hair,quitely,loudly,heavy,thin and so on.Step II. Presentation1.Invite two tall boys to the stage. Say Yang Bo is tall. Yang Shuo is tall. Yang Bo is taller than Yang Shuo. Compare some other things.2.Teach new words. Show the new words.Read the new words, students listen and repeat.3.Activity 1a. Talk about the picture on page 17 with students. Students then try to match each words with its opposite. Check the answers.4.Activity 1b. Play the tape. Students listen and number the pairs of twins in the picture. Check the answers.5.Activity 1c. First ask two students to act out the sample conversation, then students work in pairs to make conversations about the other twins, finally ask some pairs to act out their conversations to the class.Step III. Practice1.Activity 2a. Point out the two columns and read the headings:-er,-ier and more.Then point out the words in the box. Read the words in the box to the students. Then play the recording for the students to listen and complete the chart. Check the answers.2.Activity 2b. Listen again. How are Tina and Tara different? Fill in the boxes. Check the answers.3.Activity 2c. Student A, look at the chart on the right. Student B, look at the chart on page 81. Ask and answer questions about Sam and Tom.Step IVConsolidation Ask students to look at the conversation in 2d. First they read it freely and tell what Julie and Anna are talking about. Try to underline any difficult points they meet. Go through the conversation and explain the difficult points. Play the tape. Students listen carefully. Then they practice in pairs. Invite some pairs to role-play the conversation.Step V.
