Knowledge goals:(1).Read the passage correctly and fluently and understand the meaning of the passage.(2). Let the students know the politely ways of giving suggestions.2.Ability goals: Grasp the reading strategy of how to find out the topic sentence of each paragraph.3.Emotion goals: Let the students know the importance of etiquette, and try to be a person with good manners.II. Teaching importances and difficulties1. Main points: a. Understand the meaning of the passage b. Ways of giving suggestions and find topic sentences.2. Difficult points: reading strategy: find topic sentencesIII. Teaching aids: tape recorder and PowerPoint IV. Teaching procedures:Step 1. Lead in warming-up(1). Greeting for each other. (2). Free talk : What time do you get up?How do you go to school every day? (By bus)(3). Watch a video about getting on the bus,then ask : Can you describe anything unusual things on the bus? How do you feel about ? ( 让学生观看有关公共秩序的公益广告,以激发学生阅读兴趣)Step 2. Pre-readingAfter watching the video, lead to the word “etiquette” , get the students to guess the meaning of “etiquette”. (礼节)Then show the picture of the article , ask students to find out the impolite behavior and try to give them some suggestions.For example:Look at the picture. Where are they? What are they doing? What rules of etiquette are they being broken? List the impolite behavior and show the new words of the passage.Impolite behavior:drop littertalk loudly on the phonespit in publicsmoke in public talk and laugh loudly on the busIf you see someone doing this, would you make a polite request to each? If some one is talking loudly, what would you say?(Would you mind not talking loudly?) Or we can say: “Would you mind keeping your voice down?”(板书)Step 3. While-readingReading strategy: Topic sentences Topic sentences usually give us a “summary”(概括),or overall meaning of each paragraph and help us understand what the paragraph is about. More details(细节) and explanation come after the topic sentence. It is usually in the first and the last sentence of each paragraph.(1). Fast readingGet the students to read the whole text quickly and find out the topic sentence of each paragraph. (3a)(2). Careful reading Well done! You have got the main idea of the article, lets read it again for more details.Read Para 1, answer the question “What does etiquette mean in English?”(It means normal and polite social behavior.)Read Para 2 and complete the chart. Read Para 3 and give some suggestions politely in different ways.cut in line Would you mind joining the line? Could you please join the line?Would you mind not cutting in line?Could you please not cutting in line?Smoke Excuse me , could you please put out the cigarette?Excuse me, could you please not smoke here? Excuse me, would you mind not smoking?Read Para 4 and answer the question:Q: Are the rules of etiquette always different in all situations in the world?3. Listen and repeat Listen to the tape and get the students to read after the tape, pay attention to the pronunciation and intonation.Step 4. Post-reading1. Group work Discuss in groups and list the bad behavior around us at school. Get one student of each group to write down the things and give us a report.2. WritingAs a student, what should you do at school? If you see someone breaking the rules of etiquette, such as spitting, dropping litter, talking loudly in class, fighting, could you give them some polite suggestions? Please write a letter of complaint to your school newspaper.You can write like this:Dear Mr. Etiquette,I m writing to complain some impolite behavior around me at school. I think we should have good manners.Show time: Ask some volunteers to read out their letter to the class if time is enough.3. Remember: Virtue is a jewel of great price. Design the blackboardUnit 7 Would you mind keeping the voice down?Could you please do ? drop litterCould you please not do ? talk loudly on the phoneWould you mind doing ? spit in publicsmoke in public talk and laugh loudly on the bus教学反思:本节课是一节阅读课,重点是要训练学生怎样把握文章主旨,同时也复习了上个单元学习的阅读技能,即快速浏览找出细节,之后通过多媒体展示一篇关于礼节的短文,检验一下学生的掌握程度。首先通过观看video,引起学生的注意力,再给学生展示几幅在公共场合违反规则的图片,通过让学生回答What are they doing 和If that happens, what will you say? 这2个问题,共同讨论这些人的违规行为,由此引出本课的新单词drop, litter, spit
