Nick Vujicic was born in Brisbane, Australia with the rare Tetra-amelia disorder: limbless, missing both arms at shoulder level, and legless but with two small feet, one of which has two toes. From the moment that he was born, his life was filled with hardships. However, he struggled against disability, held hope and found the real meaning of life.When Vujicic was a little boy, his classmates always laughed at him for his strange body with the absence of all four limbs and his two feet toe, which made Vujicic extremely depressed. When Vujicic was eight years old, he couldnt bear the suffering he got any longer and shouted out to his mother that he wanted to die. At that time Vujicic believed that only suicide could relief all those tortured feelings, therefore at the age of ten he tried to drown himself in the bathtub in home for three times which did not succeed.“I couldnt been here without my parents.” Vujicic delivered his respect as well as appreciation towards his parents thousands of times before public, it was they who helped him meet the biggest challenge in his life, that was how to build up confidence and learn to love life. Vujicics father was a programmer and an accountant, he never gave up to teach Vujicic living independently with his two feet toe. Hence Vujicic tried to learn writing, typing, using a computer with the help of a special device that slid onto his big toe which he used to grip. Its worth mentioning that this device was invented by his parents. Under days of nights of efforts, Vujicic eventually could comb his hair, brush his teeth, shave, answer the phone, get himself a glass of water and play drum pedals. His mother kept encouraging him to take the initiative and talk to the people who was looking at him strangely. Gradually, he made some friends and things were getting better. A key turning point in his life was when his mother showed him a newspaper article about a man dealing with a severe disability. The man conquered a large amount of difficulties and achieved his goal with persistence. This led Vujicic to realize that he wasnt the only one with major struggles. He started to embrace his situation and set his own goal in his life. Every time he reflected that tough period of time about study experience, he always felt grateful to his parents who made him independent and let him integrate into the society.When Vujicic grew 19, he came up with an idea that he wanted to give a lecture in university. Thus he began a long journey seeking speech opportunities but he got constant rejection. Finally, Vujicic finally got a chance to make a five-minute-speech and $50 as salary after 52 attempt. From then on, he started his speaking career and fulfilled his dream of being able to encourage other people. His magnetic voice, clear mind and humorous words deeply impressed millions of people. His unique experience also gave every person the strength to survive. Among his audiences, there were a group of government officials, celebrities and teachers. Nowadays, Nike had made more than 1,500 speeches in 34 countries in the world. Every year he receives more than 30,000 world-wild invitations of delivering. Those who saw his videos or his speeches admired him for his courage and regarded him as a symbol of fighting against the fate. Vujicic promoted his work through television shows and his writings. His first book, Life Without Limits, was received with high enthusiasm of all ages. As Li Kaifu, the global vice president of Google and Microsoft once said, the optimism and courage of Vujicic to the youth was the best present he offered to this world. He also has his own motivational speaking company. He starred in the short film The Butterfly Circus, which won the Doorpost Film Projects top prize of 2009. In 2010, the film also won two awards as the Best Short Film at the 2010 Method Fest Independent Film Festival. At the same film festival, Vujicic was awarded Best Actor in Short Film for his starring performance as Will. The Butterfly Circus also won the best short film award at The Feel Good Film Festival in Hollywood in the same year. On February 12, 2012, Vujicic married with Kanae miyahara, a fair Japanese girl. Attitude is altitude, says Vujicic. He considers a positive attitude as the key to success thus nothing is impossible. “If you are found that youre unable to create a miracle, then make yourself become one.” Vujicics words remain short but powerful. It is not hard to draw a conclusion that Nick Vujicic is such a man of true manliness and great intransigence towards his fate. He has managed to prove his personal value in spite of numerous obstacles. It is the same old saying that we cannot choose everything in life, but we do change something.
