(Show the students some pictures of some fruits,and ask the question.)T: What is this ?: S1: Its an apple.S2: Its a pear. T: Whats your favorite fruit?S3:My favorite fruit is .(Help the students to answer the question.)Now lets look at some pictures and answer the question.Whats your favorite drink/food/sport/ color/action?Show some pictures about cola, hamburger, basketball, dance and help them answer the question.e.g. My favorite drink is cola.Then tell the students the usage of favorite.Step 2 Presentation 1.Show the students a Chinese book and ask What subject is it? Tell them Chinese is one of the subjects. Teach the new word subject. Through this way, let students say the names of the various subjects. And teach the new words science P.E. .Let students spell the words and read after the teacher two or three times each word.2.Check the students if they master the new words, ask: Do you know how to say these subjects in English? 3 Ask the students:What is your favorite subject ? My favorite subject is (Show the pictures of each subject) First the teacher help them answer the question then let the students ask and answer above the conversation.Step 3 Looking and matchingFirst show the picture of 1aT: Lets look at the picture on page 49.There are many subjects in the picture. Please match the words with picture. Two minutes later ,check the answer:Step 3 . Listening practice (1b)1. T: My favorite subject is science. Whats your favorite subject?Now lets listen to the tape and circle the subjects you hear.2. Play the recording. Listen for the first time. If all the students know the answer, I show the answer: art, science, music, math. If someone dont know it very well, listen it again. 3. Let the students read the listening text after the tape. Step 4. Practice (1c)1.Now lets talk as they do in the conversation. We are going to talk in imitation of the conversation we have just heard and read. I invite one student to practice with me.T: Whats your favorite subject?S: My favorite subject is English.2. Let students practice it with their partners like it. 3. Then, let several groups come to the platform to perform it.Step 5. Listening (2a2b) 1. T: Look at the picture in 2a. Two students are talking about their favorite subjects. First, read the sentences by yourself. Then listen and put the conversation in order. Ss read the four sentences, then listen to the recording and put them in order. 2. Check the answers with the class. 3. Let the students listen to the recording again. Match the subjects you hear with the descriptions. Ss listen and match. Then play the recording for the Ss to check the answers. Step 6. Pairwork (2c) 1. T: What do you think of the subjects above? Make your own conversations using the words (fun, interesting, relaxing, difficult) in 2b. For example: S1: Whats your favorite subject? S2: Science. S1: Why do you like science? S2: Because its interesting. 2. Ss make their own conversations with his or her partner. Then let some pairs act out their conversations. Step 7. Role-play(2d) 1. Present the new words: Monday, Friday and Saturday by show some calendars on screen. Let Ss read the new words after teacher.3. Ss read the conversation and fill in the blanks. Then check the answers with the Ss. 4. Let Ss practice the conversation in pairs. Then try to act out the conversation in front of the class. Step 8.
