Able to understand the new words and new phrases and use them well: object, magic, stick, hide, tail, turninto,excite;2. Able to understand the main idea of the article;3. Able to know these phrases( as soon as, unless,and so that.)correctlySecond, the ability objective: 1. Able to skim for the main idea of the article ;2. Able to scan for the specific information;3. Able to understand the whole article, and retell the story. Third, the emotional objective:1. Able to develop the spirit of cooperation through teamwork and pair-discussion; 2. Able to arouse Ss interest in English learning and develop the quality of helping others. Forth, the Cultural awareness:Monkey King to the Chinese is like Zoro to the Spanish, different countries will have different special but meaningful characters in some famous movies or books. And it has meanings for students to learn something from them.Part 2 Teaching key and difficult pointsFirst, Important points: 1. Able to get an overall understanding of the whole text,2. Able to develop their reading skills such as skimming, scanning, summarizing language points3. Able to master the usage of the phrases: turninto, make 72 changesSecond, Difficult points:Are to enable the Ss to use the new words and phrases to express their ideas about some characters from stories or legends, and develop the ability of skimming and scanning.Part 3 Teaching and learning methods1.Teaching methods : audio-visual teaching method, communicative teaching method, and task-based teaching methods.2.learning methods : group work,guessing,skiming,scanning reading skills as well as discussion.3.Teaching aids: a computer, blackboard, whiteboard, a tape recorder, a projector .Part 4 Teaching proceduresStep 1 Prevision check(4 mins) The prevision of the key words on Page 43: object, magic, stick, hide, tail, turninto,excite, these words are divided into 4 groups, and the teacher will give a lollipop as a surprising prize.Step 2 Leading in (3mins)Play a song about Journey to the west and then guide students to talk about the main character Monkey King with these three questions:Q1: Who does the song mainly talk about?Q2: Which TV program is the song for?Q3:When did you first watch the TV program ?Step 3 Fast reading (3 mins)Guide Ss to read the whole passage in 3a while listening in order to find the answers to these three questions:1. Which book is talked about?2. Who is the main character?3. What is he like?
