The novel became popular because the author described story about the appealing plot and the future world. The main part of the story tells a scientist who travels through time by a special vehicle experiences a special journey. And he sees the future society and human beings. The author was a socialist and a pacifist, who has a great talent at writing. He was only 27 when the book was published. His novels usually were very popular, and his early works now are classic in science novels. Among them includes: The Time Machine, The History of Mr. Polly, The War of the Worlds, The Invisible Man, The Island of Doctor Moreau. And The Time Machine reflects the authors views of socialist political and care about the industrial relations. He described his opinions about the future in the story. The story begins with a scientist tells his friends about time is the fourth dimension. He believes people can travel back and forth through time. But his friends dont believe it. In order to he is right, he took the machine to the future. He finds an apparently peaceful and pastoral society. He meets a group of small humans. They are called Eloi.They are short, retarded, simple life and incapable of doing physical labor. Everyone has not work, and everyday, they only eat, play and sleep. He wants to know something about the Eloi, but when he returns his machine is gone. He doesnt find it in anywhere. And sometime, he saves a woman from the river, her name was Weena.And they began a friendship that would, sadly, only last one week. He finds they are afraid of the evening. Because there is other community, they live underground, and they are very cruel. At the evening, they will come out of the underground, and kill Eloi as their food. He tries his best to help the Eloi, but fails.Finally, he decides to find his time machine and take Weena back with him to his time. But he fails again, and Weena is killed by the Morlocks.With sadness, he finds his time machine in the statue. He makes himself once again traveling through time. This time, he comes to 3088 years. There are only tow country-Ekton, Antus.Both countries have developed weapons that could destroy the entire world within just a few seconds.Unfortunatly, his time machine is destroyed by Antus.He has no choice but to help Ektonians to make a time machine. After the chaos, he comes back to his home. And he tells his experience to his friends. No one believes him. Finally, he makes himself once again traveling through time, and no one has seen him since. The Time Machine has great influences on science fiction literature.
