Unit 6 An Old Man Tried to Move the Mountains.Section A 1a-1c英语教研组 贾爱民一、教材分析本单元的核心话题是传统故事,语言目标是谈论并讲述传统故事,通过本单元的学习,学生应能够加深了解中西方的一些传统故事,能用英语讲述和交流这些故事,能理解故事并做出评价。本课时的1a到1c部分主要是引入话题、激发相关中国传统故事的话题知识,通过听、说活动学会用英语听懂愚公移山的故事并讲述该故事。二、学情分析八年级学生对于常见的中国传统神话故事比较熟悉,因此有利于该单元话题的展开;但是学生还未曾用英语对这些故事进行讲述和交流,并且局限于他们的英语词汇和英语表达能力,学生要听懂故事并用英语讲述故事是有一定难度的,这个难度会限制学生大胆开口。因此课堂的重点在于对听说活动设置合适的梯度,进行必要的铺垫,让学生能顺利地用英语理解和讲述传统神话故事。三、教学目标1. 学生能用英语表述常见中国传统神话故事的名字。2. 学生能听懂用英语谈论的愚公移山的故事,能获取故事重要信息。3. 学生能按故事发展用英语讲述故事。四、教学流程设计(Teaching Procedure:)Step 1: Lead in.1. Ss watch a short video about Yu Gong Moves a Mountain.T: Whats the name of the story?Ss: Yu Gong Moves a Mountain.T: Its a traditional Chinese fairy tale.(Purpose: Arose students interest and lead in the topic traditional fairy tale.)2. T: Do you know other traditional Chinese fairy tales?Ss give the names of the stories according to pictures.(Purpose: Further activate students topic knowledge.)Step 2: 1a1. T: What stories can you think of in the pictures in 1a?Ss give the names that they make.T: Please look at the names of stories in 1a. Whod like to read these names?1s reads the names and T teaches to read “shoot”.Ss match the story titles with the pictures.Check the answers: b, a, d, c(Purpose: Ss know the English names of the stories.) 2. T: Look at the names of the stories. What are special about their letters?Ss find out that in the names of the stories, notional words should begins with a big letter but function words should not and they should be printed in italic type.(Purpose: Ss know the rules of the printed names of stories.) 3. T: What can you see in the picture?Ss describe the people and what happened in the picture of Yu Gong with their own words.T: Can you talk more about Yu Gong Moves a Mountain?Ss talk what they know about the story.(Purpose: Activate Ss knowledge about the story and prepare for listening.)Step 3: 1b 1. Ss read the statements in 1b.Ss listen and check the facts.Check the answers: 1, 2T: Which story are Anna and Wang Ming talking about?Ss: Theyre talking about Yu Gong Moves a Mountain.(Purpose: Ss listen for some facts and have a overall view on the story.)Step 4: Listening for key information. 1. T shows the key question words when, who, where, how.Ss listen for the key information of the beginning of the story.T: Can you tell the beginning of the story?Ss tell the beginning of the story with the information. 2. T: Yu Gong decided to move the mountain. What did he do next?Ss say what happened next.T shows the key words problem, solution, reason.Ss listen once more to find out the first problem and Yu Gongs solution.(Purpose: Ss listen for the key information to develop their comprehension of the story. Prepare for telling the story.)Step 5: 1c 1. Ss read the listening material. 2. Ss read the three questions about the story in 1c.Ss answer each of the three questions.Ss discuss the three questions with the help of pictures.(Purpose: Ss discuss the content of the story by answering the questions.)Step 6: Telling the story. 1. T: Lets review the story. Whats the beginning / happened next / the problem?Ss review the story in the order of the development of the story. 2. T: Its the first part of Yu Gong Moves a Mountain. Can you retell this part of the story?
