Students know some simple words and information about hobbies so the topic is close to the students daily life. 3. Most of students are interested in the topic and curious about new things.Analysis of teaching materialWhat is your hobby? is the first period of this topic. It is the warm-up and part of speaking part which is not difficult for students to understand because it is close to daily life. The material is from words to sentences. So it is very clear and easy to study and teach.Teachingarrangement According to the demands in the outline of English teaching and some reference books, I have designed the followed teaching steps: presentation, practice and production to train students listening and speaking ability by designing some tasks and situations. 一、Teaching ProceduresTeaching steps and contentsMethod & ActivityPurposeStepLead in (5 minutes)Lead in the lesson according to a dialogue containing some sports events. The possible dialogue :T: Today will be Sunday , well have a lot of spare time. I often do many things, such as reading, cooking and so on, What do you often do?S1:I often play basketball.S2: I often play games.T: Ok, I see. As we all know, different people have different hobbies. Today, well learn some activities and expressions to ask about hobbies.StepPresentation (18 minutes)Task 1 Brainstorming the hobbies and spare-time activities.Hobbies/Spare-time activites:Task2 Guessing game T: Now, look at the pictures, and guess what they are doing? (Who has the best eyes?)(The following pictures are presented on PPT, then students do the guessing game in competition) Task 3 Reading in groups1. Read together.2. Read by themselves.While reading, remind them to pay attention to their pronunciation. 3. Play “Grab a hammer and read quickly” game.【Guide】Choose two students from the groups. Let them stand in front of the blackboard. when I give the order, the two students will grab the hammer and read the activity which I say. At last, who reads more phrases will be the winner.Task4Useful ExpressionsT: From above, we know many kinds of hobbies. I also like taking photos and I often do it in my spare time. Now, what do you do in your spare time?S:-T: Whats your hobby?S:-T: What are you good at?S:-T: Can you play-?S:-Task 5 Reading in groups(12 minutes)1. Read together.2. Read by themselves.While reading, remind them to pay attention to their pronunciation. 3. Play a missing game. 【Guide】I read the sentence and omit some words, the Ss who can add will be the winner.Step practice (13 minutes)T: OK, good job. I will ask you two questions.Task 1: I speak Chinese, you speak English. I speak English, you speak Chinese. (It is related to the Expressions)Task 2: Playing a guess game.Ill ask two students to play a guessing game. One acts ,the other guesses. The group finishes in the shortest time and guess the most phrases will be the winner.Task 3: Making a dialogue. Using the phrases and expressions to make a dialogue.【T and Ss】T: Say something about your hobbies/spare-time activities.S: Say something they know.
