Section A 1a2c淮南古沟民族中学 代冠香一、Teaching aims:1.knowledge objects:(1) New words and phrases:stomachache, matter, back, throat, headache, rest, foot , neck, stomach, fever, cough, have a stomachache, have a cold, lie, lie down, toothache, take ones temperature, have a fever, go to a doctor,. (2) The sentence structure:Whats the matter?I have a headache/stomachache/toothache/sore back/sore throatYou should lie down and rest / etc.2. Ability objects:(1)Learn to use “have to”talk about health problems.(2) Learn to use modal verb should /shouldnt to give advice.(3)Learn to care for your own and others health, give good advice according to the health problems.二、Teaching important points:1. master the new words and phrases2. master the target language三、Teaching difficult point:Learn to care for others illness and give some adviceTeaching tools: Mul-ti media, a tape recorderTeaching period: one period四、Teaching procedures:Step I Warm up1. Warming up ,“Do you know your body well? Today lets go on a bodys trip.” First help the students to say the names of the body parts that they have learnt. 2.The teacher points and says the names of any body parts students dont know and present the words on the screen .Teach them to read the words.3.Have a practice reading the new wordsStep II Presentation1. Ask the students to look at the pictures in 1a. Write the correct letter after the name of each body part on the list .Check the answers . 2. Group work : Play a game .All the Ss close your books ,well have an instructor to say :Touch your nose /head /right ear .Lets see which student do it correctly and quickly .First all the Ss do this game .Then have competitions between boys and girls .5 boys and 5girls to the front to do what the instructor said .if you are wrong ,please go back to your seats ,the last one who stands at the front is the winner .3. Present some pictures of the people who are ill, teach the new sentence pattern and the new words: Whats the matter? I have a headache./ I have a stomachache. Get the students to repeat and explain the meanings of the words and sentences. Then ask the other people and learn the illness such as: have a cold/fever, have a stomachache/toothache, have a sore back/sore throat, ect.4.Pair work: Ask the students to ask and answer the people in the picture using the sentences: Whats the matter? I have a Step III Listening practice1. Get the class to look and read the names in 1b quickly. Listen to tape twice and find the correct answers.2. Present the pictures in 2a.Get the class to read the items in 2b and try to understand the phrases. Tell them well use the sentence pattern : You should .Give them an example: A: I have a sore throat. B: You should drink some hot tea with honey.3. Listen to the tape twice, finish 2a and 2b . Check the answers.Step IV ConsolidationPair work: Design a conversation between the doctor and the patient .work in pairs. Then act it out like this :One student mimes an illness. The other students ask the illness and give advice .Student A holds his head. Student B ask him: B: Whats the matter? A: I have a headache. B: You should Step V Summary In this period, weve learned some names of body part and how to talk about health problems and ask for advice. Through some task-based activities, we developed our listening and speaking skills.Step VI Homework1.Remember the names of your body part .2.Write conversations between the doctor and the patient .Teaching reflection :Blackboard design :Unit 1 whats the matter ?Section A 1a2cWords and
