Knowledge New words: summer, winter, Europe, sit, mountain, Canada, vacation. Sentence structures: Hows it going? What are you doing? Hows the weather?2. Ability: Describe the different kinds of weather and different activities in different areas. Important points: Revise the words and sentence structures of greeting, weather and activities correctly. Postcard writing. Difficult points: Skills of listening, Reading and writing.Present progressive tense.IV. Teaching method: white-board, postcards, pairwork, groupwork, task-based teaching method, situation teaching method.V.Teaching procedures Step1 Revision and introduction of new words.1. Show different places and weather signs to revise the description words: snowy, rainy, windy. Introduce the new nouns: Europe, Canada, Russia. Then ask students give a weather report.Step2 Warming up.1. Ask students to describe the pictures of a, b and c with the 2 questions. How is the weather? What are the people doing? Ss talk about the weather, activities in pairs.2.T: When I travel, I like to buy some beautiful postcards. I often write what I see and hear on the postcards and then I mail to my friends. What about you? Do you like sending postcards to your friends? Here are two guys. They are writing the postcards to their friends.Step 3 Reading.1. Play the tape the first time, Ss just listen to 2b . Then match each postcard in 2b with the correct picture in 2a. Then finish blanks in 2c. Check answers.2. Further discussion. Read the first postcard and choose T or F. Su Lins uncle is in Canada. Now. Su Lin is studying English in Canada now. Su Lin is sitting and drinking juice in the morning right now.Read the second postcard and write down answers on the paper. What are Dave and his family doing now? Is Daves phone working now?How is the weather in Janes family? 3. Make a conversation between Su Lin and Dave.4. Ask students fill in blanks on the whiteboard with information of 2b. Check the answers.Step4. Writing.1. Look at pictures in winter in Harbin. Ask students say something about Harbin.2.First ask students to read two postcards.Then ask them. T: Do you know how to write a postcard? Lead students to find there are three parts in a postcard: Greeting, body and closing. T: Kate is an American girl. She wants to be on vacation in Harbin. Write a postcard to tell her about winter in Harbin. Give students several minutes and ask them to write on their paper by themselves. Also ask a student write a big postcard on blackboard.3.5 minutes later, ask 4 students show their postcards in class. All of students read together and correct them. Then ask students to exchange the postcards and correct them each other. In the end each group put their postcards on the blackboard.Step5. SummaryT: What have you learned in this English class? Ask student
