新目标八年级下Unit 1 Whats the matter?Period 1 Section A (1a-2c) 湖北省襄阳市襄州区峪山镇中心学校 罗芳平一、Teaching Objectives (教学目标) 1. Knowledge Objectives (知识目标) (1) Be able to master the pronunciation, meaning and spelling of the names of body parts and diseases: matter, sore, have a cold, foot, neck, stomach, throat, fever, cough, toothache, headache, hurt, cut oneself.(2) Be able to learn the expressions of giving advice: lie down, rest, take ones temperature, go to a doctor, see a dentist, and get an X-ray(3) Be able to talk about health problems by using “Whats the matter? I have a” and give advice by using “You should You shouldnt” 2. Ability Objectives (能力目标) (1) Be able to talk about ones health problems and give advice fluently. (2) Be able to role -play doctor and patients.3. Moral Objectives (情感态度价值观目标) (1) Improve the cooperative spirit through pair work and role playing.(2) Care more about yourself and others health.二、Analysis of students(学情分析) 学生在小学阶段就已经接触、学习到部分身体部位的词汇,因此对他们来说身体部位的话题不算陌生,但由于第一次学习健康、疾病方面的语言点,知识储量有限,让他们在较短的时间内掌握较多的新单词有一定难度,再者,由于学生生活经验的限制,在谈论如何给出合适建议时会出现一定的困难。因此我通过播放歌曲,猜谜游戏,角色扮演等活动激发学生的学习兴趣,让学生寓学于乐。由于这个阶段的学生活泼好动,好奇心较强,所以在课堂设计上我十分注意生动活泼但不幼稚,发扬传统但不古板。 三、Teachingimportant and difficultpoints (教学重难点) Teachingimportantpoints: 1. Master the names of diseases. 2. Master the expressions of giving advice 3. Talk about health problems by using “Whats the matter? I have a” and give advice by using “You should You shouldnt” Teaching difficultpoints: 1. Students may find it difficult to remember all the target new words in the class. 2. Students may find it difficult to give appropriate advice to the certain disease because of their limited life experience. 四、Teaching methods and Learning strategies (教学方法和学习策略) (1)Teaching methods:1.恰当运用多媒体辅助教学,提高课堂效率增加趣味性。 2.以学生为中心,开展Role play, Guessing game, Pair work等英语教学活动。 3.注重分层教学,尊重差异,让不同层次的学生都能参与,获得成就感。 4. Task-based teaching method“任务型”活动策略,在做中学和练,任务明确,活动面广,使学生在交际中真实运用所学知识。 (2)Learning strategies: 1. Communicative learning method 2. Role-play 3. Group and pair work 五、Teaching procedures (教学过程)Step1. Warm-up Play a body song for the students. After playing it, ask students: Whats the song about? Canyouname some partsofyourbody? Next, learn more about the body parts.Step2. PresentationShow the picture of a man, and learn the parts of our body: Arm,back,ear,eye,foot (feet),hand,head,leg,mouth,neck,nose,stomach, tooth (teeth) and so on. Ask students to read and remember. Pay attention to the plural forms of tooth and foot.Step3. Games Game 1: Act and sayOne student touches a part of the body in front of the class. The others say it. Game 2: Lets moveThe teacher does the actions first, and then asks all the students to stand up and follow.Nod your head and touch your faceTouch your nose and close your eyesTouch your ears and clap your handsRaise your arms and look at your backTouch your stomach and tap your feetSit down and move your legsStep4. PracticeWork on Section A 1a. Ask students to read these words one by one, and say the meanings. Write the correct letter for each part of the body. Then check the answers.Step5. ListeningPre-listening:1. We learned the parts of our body, but sometimes there is something wrong with them. Show the pictures of illness. Read the new phrases and sentences to students and ask them to repeat. 2. Guessing game: one student chooses a piece of paper with one phrase on it, then acts it out or use your own words if you need. The other students guess the phrase.3. Group work: three students in one group, and make up conversations.A: Whats the matter with you?B: I have a.A (asks C): Whats the matter with him/her?C: He/she has a While-listening:1. 1b. Listen for the first time, and number the names 1-5. Ask one student to answer.2. Listen again, find out whats the matter with each person.After-listening:1. Ask students to read the sample conversation in 1c. 2. Work in pairs and discuss the health problems by using the target languages: Whats the matter with.? He/she . Then the teacher ask students to answer.Step6. PracticeActivity 2a1. T: If your friends have some health problems, whats you advice? 2. Ask students to look at the five pictures. Whats wrong with him/her? What should he/she do?Play the recording for the students to listen carefully and number them in the right order. Check the answers together then.Activity 2bFirst guess the answers to 2b. Play the recording for the second time, draw lines to match the problems with the advice. Play it again, and then check the answers.Step7. Production Role-play: Imagine you are the school doctor, and a few students have health problems. Ask them whats wrong and give them advices. You can begin like the sample in 2c:A: Whats the matter?B: My head feels very hot.A: Maybe you have a fever.(B: What should I do?A: You should take your temperature.).Step8. ConsolidationDo more exercise to consolidate the language points we learned in the class.Step9. SummaryIn this period, weve learned some names of body parts and known how to talk about health problems and ask for advice. Through some task-based teaching method activities, students listening and speaking skills are improved.Step10. Homework1. Learn the new words and the target language by heart.2.
