Theyre active, interested in new things, but still do not know how to talk it in passive voice and modal verbs.Teaching proceduresStep 1Revision 1. Greetings 2. Review: 1)Have a dictation about some words. 2)Review some key sentences such as“我认为不应该允许16岁的青少年开车。”Step 2 presentation (As students ,we should obey the school rules.Please look at the picture in 1a and tell us what s happening .)S5:what happened to the boy at the door in the picture? (T: whats happening to the boy in the picture ,s1?S1:He is late for class.T: Do you ever get to class late? How often do you get to school late?S1:Sometimes (ppt展示Always ,usually, sometimes ,or never?)T:oh, you sometimes get to school late. What about others?Next, lets read the questions in 1A and write “A”for always ,”U” for usually,”S” for sometimes or “N” for never.) 2.1.Students will do it alone first and then have free talk like this:A: Do you ever get to class late?B:Yes,I sometimes get to class late. 2.2 Have students read the conversation in 1b,and then talk in pairs using their answers in 1a. as the pairs work together ,walk around the classroom offering help if necessary. 2.3 Three pairs act out Step 3 listening T:Boys and girls, you are happy today, right? But Peter is sad today. Do you know whats wrong with him? Now lets listen to his story. Lets listen and circle the things in 1a that Peter is taking about.Pre-listening: 3.1 Students read the new phrases in 1a loudly and translate them into Chinese. 3.2 Explain the meaning of the exercise. 3.3 Ask students to listen and finish 1c 3.4 Check the answers. While-listening: 3.5 Have students look through the two columns in the box of 1d and explain the phrases. 3.6Then they will guess the answers and listen to the tape second time. 3.7Play the tape for the third time and check the answers 3.8 Ask students to listen to the tape again and answer some questions. T:Is Peter worried about his math test? S: Yes, he is.T: Did Peter get to class late? Why? S:Yes, he did. Because he missed the bus.T: Is he allowed to get to class late ? S: No, he isnt.T:Was he allowed to take the test after he got to class late ? S: No, he wasnt. T: What did peter think about the rule ? S:He thought it was unfair.T: How did he feel about his test? S:He felt he could pass the test.Post-listening: 3.9 Invite a student to read the complete sentences and the rest of the class check their answers. Step4:Group work(Debate)(Do you think Peter should be allowed to take the test later ?) 4.1Read the statements in 1e and explain the phrases “be strict with /in ”,two ss will make new sentences using the phrases . 4.2 Discuss the first statement and complete the sentences in the box. A:I think peter should be allowed to take the test later. B:I dont agree. C:I think the school has to have rules. 4.3 Divide the class into groups of three and ask them to discuss the statements in groups. 4.4 Students discuss in groups to complete the task in 1e and act out .They can follow the structures like this :I think,I dont agree(why).,In my opinion,.Step 5:Consolidation Ask the students to do some exercises. The group leader of each group comes to the front and press the button of each door. There will be some exercises behind each door. 5.1 The first door: The students in group one say the key phrases out. 5.2 The second door: The students in group two translate some key sentences. 5.3The third door: The students in group three retell the usage of “strict” . 5.4The fourth door: The students in group four dont need to do homework today. 5.5The fifth door: The students in group five sing a song. 5.6The sixth door: The students in group six make a summary.Step6: Homework1.Write rules for your English class.2.Preview the new words and try to understand the Chinese meaning of the article on page 54.
