Page 36Important Note:After install AmosConnect, please make sure you backup the folder C:AM32AMPO (or C:AMPO) at least once per month, so you could recovery all your AmosConnect setting and history in case you PC have technical problemHow to Backup AmosConnect and Reinstall in New PC 1. Copy the folder C:AM32AMPO ( the mail path folder could be found in Help/about AmosConnect) at least once per month to other PC or Hard Disk2. If PC with AmosConnect have problem, copy the AMPO folder to the new pc 3. Install AmosConnect version 7.4 by click AC-7.4.16 (Setup.exe) from you AmosConnect CD , the Setup.exe is in the source folder , dont use setup.bat unless you want to install new database 4. After installation , click “Connect to existing post office” 5. Chose Local Database and browse to the folder of AMPO 6. In C:Am32, or C:program fileAmosConnect, find out file “ ResetDeviceComputer.exe “ and double click it ( to reset the modem driver) 7. Place AMOSConnect CD in the CDROM drive2. Double click to open ”My Computer” on desktop3. Double click on CD-ROM drive 4. Double click “Setup”, a window will pop up, keep waiting during the installation until you see the message AMOS-Mail restored. Please try to run AMOS Connect and confirm 5. After installation has been completed, the window will close automatically.6. For Re-Installation, follows these steps :a) Remove “AMOS Connect” under “Add/Remove Programs” in “Control Panel” b) Delete the whole directory C:am32 c) Start installation from step 12.1 Verify Connection1. Double the icon AMOS Connect on desktop2. Click the Dail button, follow by the ”Connect” button3. If no error message pop up and you can see statistics count , that means the connection is in progress. Now, you can start to use AMOS Connect.4. If error message pop up or you cannot make a connection, please refer to Chapter 4 FAQ Session for troubleshoot for troubleshootChapter 3 AMOSConnect simple user guide3.1 Start AMOS Connect1. Double click the icon AMOS Connect on desktop3.2 Editing Address Books (E-mail, Fax and Telex Service)2. Click the Address button, the Address Book window will pop up3. Click the New button, the New Directory will pop up4. Adding contacts in Address Book :a. Adding Email address:i. Select Internet in the Template pull-down menuii. Input the email address in the Address. (e.g. The Email address is as shown in the following example)b. Adding FAX number:i. Select Fax” in the Template pull-down menuii. Input the fax number in the Address. (e.g. The fax number is +8525555555 as shown in the following example)c. Adding telex number:i. Select Telex in the Template pull-down menuii. Input the telex number in the Address. (e.g. The telex number is +8533103 as shown in the following example.)3.3 Compose new email1. Click the New icon at top-left hand corn, the New Message and Address Selection windows will pop up2. Click to select the recipient, click To, Cc or Bcc to put it on the list3. Click Close when finish4. Enter the subject and content for the email5. Click Attach button if you want to add attachment, the Add Attachment(s) window will pop up6. Find and click on the target file, click open.7. The attachment will be put into the new message8. Click the Send button9. The email will be put in ”Send Queue”, pending for delivery10. The email will also make a copy in “SendBox” for record3.4 Compose FAX - Text Only, only send FAX with English content1. Click the New button, the New Message and Address Selection windows will pop up2. Click to select the recipient, click To, Cc or Bcc to put it on the list3. Click Close when finish4. Enter the subject and content for the email5. Click the Send button 3.5 Compose FAX - Attachment method, can be used with any printing-capable software1. Start AMOS Connect2. Under any printing-capable software, select AMOS Fax for printing. For example : FAX under “MS Word” document :3. Print the document, select to use the printer “AMOS-Mail Fax” 4. After press “OK” , The document will be sent to AMOS Connect , select the recipient list and press the Send button to send it3.6 Compose Telex1. Click the New button, the New Message and Address Selection windows will pop up2. Click to select the recipient, click To, Cc or Bcc to put it on the list3. Click Close when finish4. Enter the subject and content for the email3.7 Dial and Connect1. In the SendQue windows, click the Dial button, a window Dial Remote Post Office will pop up2. Select the suitable modem device3. Click the Connect button to deliver the messageRemark: All message (e.g. email, fax or telex) in SendQue will disappeared after delivery After the connection succeed, the following window will pop up:3.8 Check connection status- All message (e.g. email, fax or telex) in SendQue will disappear after delivery ! (You can press F5 to refresh the screen !)- Messages will remain in SendQue until it is send out successfully- After the message has been delivered, it will show a Timer icon in the “SentBox”:- Inmarsat-Cwill automatically issue alert if any emails failed to deliver !- If the mail is delivered successfully, a icon “Tick” will shown (After you make a dial connection next time ) :- If mail cannot be delivered (eg. Mails deleted from ”SendQue” ), a “No Entry Sign” will shown :Chapter 4 FAQ SessionPlease check the following first :A . Inmarsat - Aa. Ensure that the power of modem is switched onb. Ensure that you are using 2-pin telephone wire, converter will be needed for 4-pin wire, please contact us for arragnment B. Inmarsat - Ba. Ensure that the Data Number operate normallyb. Ensure that you have registered and able to use Station 12 channelC. 衛通 Mini - M a. Ensure that you have registered and able to use Station 12 channel1. AMOS Connect connection number checkThe connection number of AMOS Connect is based on the types of Inmarsat, you can press the “Phone” button to check the details :Common connection numbers as following :Inmarsat A (eg : JRC JUE-45)T*12#,65#Inmarsat B (eg : JRC JUE-310)012#65#Mini-M (eg : Nera)65# (Need to select Station 12 channel on inmarsat)The connection string 012# or T*12# meaning to choose Station 12 as the communication channel and 65# is the special connection number on our server.For other inmarsats connection number setting, please refer to Appendix I.2. AMOS Connect cannot detect modem (fail to initialize the modem) Cause of the problems and troubleshoot steps:1. Problem on DTE cable connection.a. Please check the connection of DTE cable with PC and Inmarsat Terminal, please use COM Port on PC for connection. For connection port in inmarsat, please refer to related manual or contact with the supplier 2. Inmarsat problem or data terminal setting errora. Please contact with the inmarsat supplier3. AMOSConnect COM Port setting errora. Please do following :i. Start AMOS Connectii. Select and click “Remote” - “Modem Service”iii. Double-click related modem deviceiv. Change “Device” setting to a suitable COM portv. Click “OK” to confirm4. Wrong select on modem devicea. Please do following :i. Start AMOS Connectii. Select and click “Remote” - “Modem Service”iii. Check that the modem device is on the listYes Modem device have installed properlyNo Modem device havent installed properly, please check and correctiv. Click to select unused modem devicev. Click “Remove” button to delete the modem devicevi. Click “Add”, the “Add New Modem Device” windows pop upvii. Select “Use AM device”, find a suitable device under the ”Modem” pull-down list. Select a suitable COM port under the “Device” pull down list. Normally it is COM 1 or COM 2viii. Click “Dial” under the ”Sendque” windowix. Select suitable modem device under the ”Device” listx. Click “Connect” to make a connection again 5. If the above method is not working, please try the following setting (Only suitable for Inmarsat-B user)a. If Window havent install Standard 19200 bps Modem, Please install :i. Click “Start” - “Settings” - “Control Panel”ii. Click “ Phone and Modem Option”iii. Add “Standard 19200 bps Modem”b. Add “Standard 19200 bps Modem” under AMOS Connecti. Start AMOS Connectii. Select and click “Remote” - “Modem Service”iii. If there is “Standard 19200 bps Modem”, select and click the “Remove” buttoniv. Click “Add”, the “Add New Modem Device” window pop upv. Click “Use TAPI device”, select “Standard 19200 bps modem” under “modem” pull-down listvi. Click “OK” to confirmvii. Click “Dial” under the ”Sendque” windowviii. Select “Standard 19200 bps Modem” under the “Device” listix. Click “Connect” to make connection again 3. No Carrier Cause of the problem and troubleshooting steps :1. Signal unstablea. Wait until the signal becomes normal and make a connection againb. Inmarsat signal will be disturbed during cargo loading/unloading at harbour terminal, wait until the signal returns normal and make connection again.2. Wrong Dialup Stringa. Click “Dial” in the ”Sendque” windowb. Click the button besides “Phone”, the “AMOSConnect Server” window will pop upc. According to the type of Inmarsat Terminal, enter the suitable dial string (Please refer to Appendix I, AMOSConnect section). 4. Checksum error / Receive Timeout Cause of the problem and troubleshooting steps :1. Signal unstablea. Wait until the signal becomes normal and make connection againb. bInmarsat signal will be disturbed during cargo loading/unloading at harbour terminal, wait until the signal returns normal and make connection again.c. If always have “Checksum error / Receive timeout” error, there may have problem with the hardware driver, please contact us for further troubleshoot5. “Sendque” disappeared or placed else where Cause of the problem and troubleshooting steps:1. The “Sendque” was not selected a. Click “Window” - “Tile Horizontally” to re-arrange the windowsAppendix Modem driver and dialing string Please set up your Default LES as 012 ! 1. Open AmosConnect , then remote/Modem services2. Click add and chose the modem driver from below table, please chose the correct com port 3. For Fleet 77 (Nera, Sailor and Furuno) Direct RS232 Connection( without ISDN TA), click detail and then click email , check the box before : enable PPP Compatible mode on this device 4. Click Dial , and chose the device just installed , then click the box on right of Phone and fill the number of 65 , click the location and fill prefix and suffix based on the following table5. you could also filling in the total dialing string in the phone entry if you AmosConnect allow you do so , but please make sure location prefix and suffix are all empty.
