Ss are able to improve listening skills by listening to a short conversation.4. Ss are able to talk about past events using the past verb forms.Process and strategies(过程与方法):1. Ss practice and act out the conversation in pairs.2. Ss learn to make new conversations through group work to talk more about the vacation, such as the places, the food, the people and the weather.3. Ss practice listening and speaking. Emotion, attitude and values(情感态度与价值观):1. Ss are able to understand that they are supposed to do something meaningful in summer vacation.2. Ss can understand that traveling is a good way of learning.Teaching important points(教学重点):1. Having Ss master the following new words: anywhere interesting; wonderful, quite a few, most1. Guiding Ss to talk about the past event (their summer vacation)freely and correctly2. Improving Ss listening and speaking skillsTeaching difficult points(教学难点):1. Encouraging Ss to talk more about their summer vacation, including the places they went, the food, the people and the weather 2. Guiding Ss to make new conversations.Teaching procedures(教学过程):Step1.Leading in1. Greet the whole class as usual.2. Free talk.T: Welcome back to school. We just had a long summer vacation. Can you share something about it? (Then ask several Ss to answer the questions or have a free talk about his/her summer vacation.)Where did you go on vacation? What did you do there?.Step2. Listening.1. Show a picture of Huangguoshu Waterfall and ask Ss where it is.2. Tell Ss that Helen and Rick are talking about summer vacation and guide Ss to look at the chart.3. Listen and pay attention to where they went and what they did on vacation. Try to fill in the chart.4. Listen again and have someone check the answers.Step3.Reading and acting in pairs.1. Listen again and repeat.2. Ss practice in pairs.3. Ss act out in pairs.Step4. Discussing and listing.1. Ss discuss in groups:What other things can we talk about during our trip in summer vacation? (such as food, weather, people)2. Ss list the questions they are going to ask partners about his/her vacation.3. Teacher makes a summary about the questions and the answers.1. How did you go there? I went there by bus/train/plane/2. Who did you go with? I went there with my parents/friends/3. What did you do there? I/We went to the mountains/museums/4. What food did you eat? We ate5. How was the weather? It was wonderful/ not bad/6. How were the people there? They were friendly/kind/.Step5. Making new conversations.Guide Ss to make conversations according to the given example. Example:A: Hi, . Long time no see.B: Hi, . Yes, I was on vacation last month.A: Oh, did you go anywhere interesting/.?B: Yes, I went with .A: Wow! Did you ?Helpful sentences:1. Where did you go on vacation?Did you go anywhere?2. Who did you go with?Did you go with?3. What did you do there? Did you ?4. What food did you eat? Did you eat anything? 5. How was the weather?6. How were the people there?Teacher walks around and gives Ss necessary help. Remind Ss to use the correct tense to talk about past events.Step6. Showing our own conversations.1. Invite several pairs to show their conversations. 2. Ask other Ss some questions according to the conversations performed.Step7. Making a Summary.T: Most of us had a really exciting summer vacation. I think traveling is a wonderful way for us to learn more. And I do hope we can spend a more relaxing and meaningful vacation instead of playing computer games or watching TV all day.
