“Go for it”七年级下册 Unit 6 Im watching TV.(The 1st period Section A 1a-1c)重庆巴蜀中学校初2019届 杨梅Teaching aims: Learn to talk about what people are doing.Language points:1.To learn the following sentences:-What are you doing?-Im watching TV.-What is he/she doing?-He/She is using the computer.-What are they doing?-They are running.2.To master the following words and phrases:read a newspaper, talk on the phone, listen to a CD, use the computer, make soup, wash the dishes, exerciseTeaching emphases and difficult points: 1. To introduce the present progressive tense. 2. To learn the changing rules of the present participle: do-doing; clean-cleaning; run-running.Teaching steps:Step 1 Lead in. Watch a short video which is connected to the present progressive tense. While watching, let the students(Ss) try to remember all the actions that the man is doing.After watching, the teacher(T) asks: “What is the man doing in the video?”(T can do the actions to help the Ss recall them.)Ss: He is walking, running, jumping, dancing, reading, eating, and drinking.The T introduces the target language to the Ss with a question: “What are you doing?” , and then helps the Ss to answer “We are having an English class.”Step 2 Presentation. (1). The T shows pictures of daily activities, and leads the Ss to answer the question. T: What are you doing?Ss: Im watching TV/ reading newspapers/ washing the dishes/ talking on the phone. Let Ss ask and answer in pairs the above conversations.(2) The T shows pictures of daily activities to the Ss and present the sentences:T: What is he/she doing?Ss: He/She is using the computer/ making soup/ exercising/ riding a bike.Let the Ss ask and answer in pairs the above conversations.(3) The T shows more pictures to the Ss and present the sentences:T: What are they doing? (T guides the Ss to speak out the question by themselves.)Ss: They are running/ shopping/ swimming/ cutting down the tree.Let Ss ask and answer in pairs the above conversations.Step 3 Basic sentence pattern learning(1) T leads the Ss to pay attention to the picture in 1a(P31). Different people are doing different things in the apartment. Let the Ss to describe what people are doing in each room.The Ss can describe them one by one like this:S1: Mike is talking on the phone.S2: Bill is cleaning the room.S3: Jim is reading a newspaper.S4: Joe is making soup.S5: Jackson is using the computer.S6: Dave and Mary are listening to a CD.S7: John is washing the dishes.S8: Lucy is exercising.S9: Jenny is watching TV.(2) Draw the Ss attention to the above sentences and let them try to find out the sentence pattern of Present Progressive Tense: Sb. + Be (am/is/are) + V. ing + 其他部分.(3) T: How can we change the verbs into ing form?Ask the Ss to try to tell the rules. (4) Practice: Change the following verbs into ing forms. listen, play, get, write, dance, clean, stop, leave, sit, studyStep 4: Listening: 1b.(1) Listen for the first time and try to identify what each person is doing. And then write down the numbers of the activities from 1a.(2) Listen for the second time and fill in the blanks.Bob: Hello, Jenny!Jenny: Hi, Bob.Bob: Jenny, what (1)_ you _?Jenny: I (2)_ _TV.Bob: Do you want to play tennis?Jenny: No, this TV show is interesting. What (3) _ John_?Bob: He (4) _ _the dishes.Jenny: Well, what (5)_ Dave and Mary_?Bob: They (6)_ _to a CD.Step 5: Competition: A Guessing Game.Divide the Ss into three groups and have a competition named Guessing Game. Show some pictures and the Ss guess what he/she is doing in each picture. Use “Is he/she doing sth.?” to check the answer. If they tell the correct answer, their group will get a star.Step 6: Look and say.The T distracts the Ss attention to their school life. T shows the pictures of the Ss day at school. The Ss look at the pictures and talk about them one by one. (1) This is a picture in the library. The T leaves blanks about the target language and lets the Ss to work in pairs to describe the picture.(2) The second picture is a picture of the Ss in the classroom. This time the T just shows the picture and asks the Ss to describe the picture in their own words.Ask some representatives from some groups to give a report.Step 7: Summary.Make a conclusion of what we learnt in this class, like the following:The sentence pattern of the Present Progressive Tense: Sb. + be (am/is/are) + v.ing (现在分词) + 其他.动词的现在分词ing形式:(1) 直接加-ing. (2) 去掉末尾不发音的e,再加-ing.(3)
