Unit 10 Get Ready for the Future Lesson 58 Ms. Lius Speech 教材分析1. Analysis of the Students The students of Grade 9 have mastered certain vocabularies,expressions and structures. They also have the abilities of self-teaching and working in groups. Most of them are willing to express their opinions in English.2. Analysis of Teaching ContentLesson 58 is the fourth lesson in Unit 10, Book 5.This unit focus on the subject Get Ready for the Future, Students cares about the subject because it is close to everyone. Lesson 58 mainly talks about Ms. Lius speech at graduation, students will also feel the teachers instructions to them. By having the lesson, I want to help them build their confidence to face difficulties which they may face in the future. Encourage students to look into their bright futures. 教学目标【知识目标】1. To master the words: speech, period, valuable, achieve, behalf, congratulation.2. To master the phrases: go by, fall down, pick yourself up, on behalf of.【能力目标】Improve the students ability of speaking, listening, reading and writing. Students will be able to make a graduation speech in English.【情感目标】Enhance students love for their school.【教学重点】To master the words and phrases.【教学难点】To write a graduation speech in English. 课前准备 Tape recorder, Multimedia 教学过程Step 1. Warm-upFree talk: 1. How did you do in junior high school?2. What is your most unforgettable memory from junior high school?Step 2. Presentation1. Explain the new words.2. Read the lesson and write true (T) or false (F).(1) The students are having an English lesson. (2) Some of the notes almost made Ms. Liu cry. (3) Ms. Liu spent two years with this group of students. (4) Ms. Liu thinks there is no such things as true failure. 3. Check the answers.4. Explain the language points:go by 在本句中的意思是 “(时间)过去;逝去”。e.g. The hours go by quickly when you are study.学习的时候时间过得很快。go by 还有 “从旁边经过” 的意思。e.g. The cars went by us. 那些轿车从我们身旁驶过。 the parade just went by. 队伍刚走过去。 go by 还有 “顺便拜访” 的意思。e.g. I went by his family yesterday afternoon. 我昨天下午顺便拜访了他的家人。at times意为“有时,偶尔”,与sometimes和from time to time意思相近,常在句中作状语。 e.g. We eat out together at times / sometimes / from time to time. 我们偶尔外出吃饭。no matter 意为“无论;不论”,与疑问词连用引导让步状语从句,如no matter who (无论谁),no matter what (无论什么),no matter which (无论哪一个),no matter how (无论怎样),no matter where (无论在哪里)等。 e.g. My teacher is always welcome no matter where you are. 无论在哪儿你都是受欢迎的。“no matter +疑问词”结构可以与“疑问词-ever”引导的让步状语从句进行同义句转换。Whoever / No matter who you are, you must observe the rules of school.无论你是谁,你一定要遵守学校的规则。No matter what / Whatever you may say, I still think I did the right thing.无论你说什么,我始终认为我做得对。pick oneself up在本句中的意思是 “(使自己重新)鼓起勇气(树立信心)”。pick oneself up也有 “站起来”的意思。e.g. He picked himself up and walked on continue. 他站起来,继续往前走。pick作动词,意为“采;摘”,其后可以跟表示花、水果等的名词作宾语。另外,pick还常与up搭配构成短语pick up,意为“拿起;举起,拣起;恢复(健康、谈话);收看(听);搭载”。如果宾语为名词,可放在up之前或之后;如果宾语为代词,只能放在pick与up之间。 e.g. He picked themselves up and faced the difficulties work. 他鼓起勇气,勇敢面对困难。 Who is picking flowers in the garden? 谁在花园里摘花? Would you like to pick the paper up? Yes, Id like to pick it up. 你愿意举起这张纸吗? 是的,我愿意。He picked up his bag and walked away.他拿起包走开了。He is picking up wonderfully.他正在迅速恢复健康。They picked up the talk stopped.他们中断了的谈话。I picked up the news on the TV.我从电视里听到那个消息。on behalf of 在本句中的意思是 “代表”。e.g. She made a speech on behalf of our class. 她代表我们班讲话了。on behalf of 还有 “为了” 的意思。e.g. They are fighting bravely on behalf of the peace-loving people. 他们正在为那些热爱和平的人们而英勇斗争。 Step 3.
