(6分)阅读理解 They say music is universal, and it seems to be true since wherever we go, we see people listening, playing or dancing to it. We tend to think that music is larger than our cultural differences and shows the deeper connections between us.But according to a recent study published in the Current Biology, music doesnt speak to everyone. There is a condition, the researchers argue, called musical anhedonia. They say that those who have this condition may have few abilities to experience pleasure from music. For the study, 30 people listened to the same, mostly classical music pieces. They were then asked to complete a questionnaire on how they felt about the music. At the same time, the researchers measured their heart rate and skin reaction, which are considered physiological measures of feelings.According to the researchers, most of the people in the study got pleasure from the music. They had a quicker heartbeat and sweatedmore. However, a small number of them had very little and even no pleasant feeling while they were listening to the music. These people had none or very few of the physical signs which the others in the study experienced. The researchers say that this means people have different abilities to enjoy music and that there are people who specifically cant enjoy music at allTo study the condition more deeply, another group of scientists, at Columbia University, US, researched brain activities. They found that the key is the blood flow to the reward system in the brain. People who got less pleasure from music had comparatively lower blood flow to areas involved in the reward system of the brain when they were listening to music. The lower blood flow makes it more likely that the brains reward system will be inactive. And it will produce less of the pleasure chemical dopamine. As a result, people get less pleasure from music. If the research is correct, according to National Public Radio, there are simply people who just dont get music. They may get pleasure from many things, but a good tune isnt one of them.(1)The people who is called musical anhedonia _. They were called Gypsies(吉普赛人) by Europeans because they thought they came from Egypt(a country in Africa). About a thousand years ago, the Roma people left their homeland. They are known as nomads because for hundreds of years many of them have lived in large groups that travel from place to place. They have no real homeland.Today, the Roma are now living all over the world. They have kept their language and many customs. For example, its important for Roma to marry other Roma. Its also a custom for parents to choose the person their children will marry. Roma people get married when they are young, sometimes even as young as 14.Romany is the language of the Roma people, which was written down only recently. Because the Roma are nomadic and have moved all over the world, their language has developed in many different ways. It is sometimes hard for Roma in one part of the world to understand Roma from another part.Roma music is famous all over the world, because many Roma throughout history have been musicians. Their music has influenced many other kinds of music, like classical and jazz.Roma dont usually assimilate(同化) into host countries. Over many centuries, governments have forbidden them to marry each other, travel or wear their traditional bright clothes. They have their gold taken away from themtreasures (财富) from their parents and grandparents. They have been taken as slaves(奴隶), and have been forced to change their names. But today, the Roma are finding ways to live in peace with others while keeping the treasures of their culture. Theres a will within us to continue to live as a people, says George Kaslov, whose family arrived in New York from Russia a hundred years ago. All the other ethnic(种族) groups who came to America assimilate gradually with time going; they lose their customs and language. But not the Roma. Most of the Roma live in very unusual houses.B . Their language is endangered and may soon die out.C . Their culture is very different from other European cultures.D . Most Roma get married either when they are very young or very old.(4)What is the main purpose of the passage? A . To tell readers about an interesting culture.B . To tell us why the Roma need our help.C . To show us how all people are similar.D . To ask people how to live in peace.(5)What would be the best title for the passage? A . Brave Roma TravelersB . Famous Roma MusicC . The Roma: Past and PresentD . Changing Countries, Changing Cultures5. (8分)根据短文内容,选择正确答案。DThe brain is the boss of the body. Your eyes, ears, nose, and skin tell your brain what is going on around you. Other parts of your body tell your brain what is going on inside you. Your brain takes in the signals. It tells your body what to do with them. When you touch fire, your skin tells your brain that your finger is too hot. Your brain tells you to move your finger. All these happen very fast. Your brain also controls your breathing, blinking, and heartbeat. It becomes your feelings and thoughts too.Humans have the most developed brain of all animals. Yet it is not the largest brain. The human brain weights three pounds. The brain of an elephant weights 11 pounds. So the largest brain is not always the best brain. In people, a large brain does not mean a clever person.(1)What is the main idea of this story?A . The human brain works very hard.B . The largest brain is not always the best brain.C .
