From the movie I have seen the pursue of democracy and freedom and the individualism in their lives. At last I draws a conclusion that from the perspective of movies, Americans are individualistic, and good at pursuit of freedom in their life. Keywords American cultural, Movies, freedom In this term, I have been through several movies in class, including Some Like It Hot, Godfather, Dead Poets Society，Splendor in the Grass，The Blind Side and so on. The movies are not only interesting but significant, from which I learnt a lot about American cultural, impressing me deep. From this movie, I saw American culture of freedom, democratic pursuit.The Dead Poets Society, a classic motivational movie , Set at the conservative and aristocratic Welton Academy in Vermont it tells the story of an English teacher who inspires his students through his teaching of poetry. sent us a message that if you have dreamed about it , just do it. Whats more, it told us that whats the essence of life and the pursue of democracy and freedom. When the boys said goodbye to John Keating in a way of standing on the desk in class . They hate to be tied by the old rules and they are used to control of their own destiny themselves, which is a part of American cultural. A sudden, a poem flashed across my brain that “O Captain! My Captain” , which poem is used to read by John Keating. They desire for liberty and fight for it.But this term has given me the most impressive is The Blind Side. The film said that Michael Oher, an offensive lineman who plays for the Balti hy, and on to his position as one of the most highly coveted prospects in college football. more Ravens of the NFL. The film follows Oher from his impoverished upbringing, through his years at Wingate Christian School, his adoption by Sean and Leigh Anne Tuo. In the end of film, the investigator tells Michael that the Tuohys and Miss Sue are fervent Mississippi boosters, who are subject to special restrictions, and his high school coach got a job at Ole Miss after Michael chose the school. Michael confronts Leigh Anne, asking her if she only took him in so he would play football for her alma mater. After Michael is flees. Leigh Anne searches for Michael. He finally calls her, and they meet. Leigh Anne tells him she will support any decision he makes. Michael satisfies the investigator by explaining that he chose Ole Miss because his whole family has gone there. From here we can know freedom .they can give the man choose the way it want to go, if anyone want to constrain it , the government will help the man.And the family is democracy. Thought they want Micheal to fervent Mississippi in the begin, after Leigh is think out that letting Micheal himself to choose which school he want to go.Comparison The Dead Poets Society and The Blind Side .We can know that the difference about they. In the Dead Neil goes against his fathers wishes. His father shows up at the end of the play, furious. He takes Neil home and tells him that he intends to enroll him in a military school to prepare him for Harvard University and a career in medicine. Unable to cope with the future that awaits him or to make his father understand his feelings, Neil commits suicide. If Neils father could like Leigh and Keating, try and get to the root of the sons feelings, give Neil more freedom to choose his way. Maybe the tragedy didnt happen.And other movie also Expression of the pursuit of freedom, such as Splendor in the Grass, Bud father doesnt allow Bud to fall in love because of the conservative thoughts. He thinks money can help solve the physical problem and requires Bud to get married After he graduated. Because of this, Deanie get hurt so badly that she is sent to the mental hospital. And Bud is dismissed from the university. When Deanie is recovered and visits Bud, Bud has become a common person. Like Neil, Bud also Be required by his father, didnt give Bud freedom to choose. Result in the final tragedy.In fact, live is the origin of movie. Watching a movie, at the same time, we can know the style of live in the movie, which is a kind of cultural we can learn.
